Lost 2-1. Bowles, Corbishley, Young, Goodfellow, Morris, Eastwood and Moir all played. Joe Taylor scored our goal midway through the second half, a good finish after a defender flicked the ball back towards the keeper not realising a Gate player was in between. Ashford scored in the first half against the run of play, and added a second at the death. Corbishley and Morris played quite well.

Crikey-a first team defence:

Bowles

Corbs young, eastwood,eastwood

and we still lose at home !!

still-great to see Young back.

And remember-2 years ago we did not have a reserve team-so well done the club and reserves throughout.

Up the 'gate

My two performances were from the young left back (cannot remember his name, have to wait for Blue gate Alan's report) and Jason McAree(think that's how you spell it).His linking with Corbs in the 1st 1/2 was out standing. Trotty was there as was the Chairman, KP and Terry Painter(good turn out ). Pity the Turn out on the terraces was so little, less than a normal Saturday when everyone is travelling away.

Best of luck for Saturday when the reserves host Dartford in the 1st leg of the Div 1 / Div 2 cup. 3-00pm kick off at Hartsdown.

PS, the Ashford number 17 looked good as well.

Ashford are a good young side emphasis on young(oldest is just 19). They love to play the ball on the ground football. Two of whom i would'nt be surprised to see in the next trial game. We made changes in the second 1/2 and seemed to loose the edge. Typical we played into a strong gale 1st half and really dominated. 2nd half started and the wind dropped.

Eastwood played in midfield. Young and Goodfellow looked a bit rusty at first due to their respective lay offs but as the game progressed they were both looked sharper. Ashford's Number 17 (Scott Penfold) looks a good player and with Trotty watching am sure he impressed him too. Corbishley and McAree were pick of our players linking up well on the right side. Steve Gibson at left back also played well at just 17 yrears of age I believe? Was good to hear Goodfellow shouting encouragement to the lad throughout the game, well done Mark.
