Saturday saw the last of a Loyal Rebel

Crazy Fool

Recommended Posts

I have to say, after saturdays 'performance', I threw away, in disgust, my Lucky Slough Hat. It was old, thread-bare, falling to bits, and smelled, but it and I had been to many a game and shared many experiences, good and bad games. This was the limit. Gutless crap. The wall was a shambles, and they crapped themselves and split like a whores legs.

Gray and Rendell need swapping around, and I know Gumbs can look lazy and lacklustre, but him being lacklustre is 10 times better than the 10 who was 'playing'.

What is the fuss about Barrett? he was absolutley toilet at godalming, and his crossing was awful when he came on on saturday? (in his defence he was not alone in both games)

Midfield badly needs Jeffries in there to create something, or even drop Terry in there, as I think it's his best position. (Quick question on Terry, if we are relying on him so much, why is The club letting him play Sunday football still?)

Why isn't Barny in goal?

Cannot believe the ref was the target of booing. Yes, he was poor, but we were the fault of the loss. I admit I was having a go at Harper,as he wentoff but........do I have to explain? what a 100% helmet the lad is.

Sorry, been holding off all day about the game..

To me this game highlighted what quite a few brain dead idiots on here cannot see:

He is old. His legs have gone. He is slower than ever. He makes the odd howler. Steve Daly is still our best centre back by a country mile.

I'm not sure what Sue has done with my hat, but I bet it's glad it isn't watching that crap anymore. I wonder how much my season ticket will get on ebay?

Your comment about Daly being our best defender is very worrying.

If a 37 year old whos legs have gone, who is slow and does let in the odd howler is our best defender, that does not say much about the rest of the defence.

Conner is older than Daly - so Betts is bringing in young talent to replace Steve?

How come we can all see the points about players being played out of position and stronger players sitting on the bench? Is Betts seeing a different game?

I was one of the ones who backed him during the trial period but since his appointment things have not improved but got worse. When he was on trial we got 11 points from 10 games, since his appointment on 19th January we have picked up 4 points from 8 games which just is not good enough! - I was wrong with my choice!

This post will cause argument and I will be told to give him a chance to put things right BUT matters on the pitch do matter this season!!!!

The question is does Betts stay till the end of the season and start next year, stay to the end od this season and go, or go now so a new manager can pick things up ready for next season?

P.S.

Deepest sympathies Dr - may your hat rest in peace.

And he is still always blamed for everything! Says everything about the rest of them!

Bracknell keep giving us chances, and we are not taking them!

Agree with Plinth. Daly is still our best defender. Just a scapegoat for some performances. Saturday showed how much we missed him.

However that said, we've let in shed loads of goals this season and a young pacey centre back was needed earlier in the season.

I just want this season over and hope that we stay-up!

That sums up how I feel. Last season was different, but there was a good spirit as we got hammered each week, and we knew why it was happening.

This season has been dire, and has probably been made worse by a false dawn and the occaisional good performance when we least expect it. The sooner its over, the better, and lets not waste next pre-season.

Have to agree and disagree on some of Your comments. I Agree with the idea of swapping Grey and Rendell around becuase they are playing the wrong way around. I feel it would give Us more balance, but the idea of Terry playing left midfield is even a better combination, rendell defending and Terry attacking. With Gumbs left upfront by Himself, Yeah he can be lacklusture but can score goals and thats something We do need right now. I also agree that last few Games about Barratt being woeful, where He has been way of par but what about the other 12 or so Hes played when He has been our best player. Thats the reason why there is a fuss about Him because He has a quality and it just annoys and frustrates Us fans and maybe the other players when Bettsy does put Him sub. With regards to the wall I could not agree more, from watching on the side it seemed like the Slough players dont have that strength inside them to want to put there bodys on the line unlike the Paulton players who stodd strong and done therre JOB. The bits I do disagree with, Im a massive fan of Steve Daly and is a fantastic servant to Slough, but I dont feel he is our Best Defender, I beleive it is Dean Harper. Every week His performances have heart which cant be said for most of the others. Saturdays red card was down to pure frustraion and I would be more angry for His Teams mates not dragging Him away before He said to much.

I dont think for one second you can blame anyone except Dean himself and im sure he'd be man enough to take full responsibility. The final whistle had gone and it was a pointless red, i have no idea what he was complaining about: the ref had a decent game and the only people to blame on saturday werethe team for a woeful performance where (like Bracknell) we were totally outplayed by 10 men. If Dean was complaining about the freekick it looked pretty stonewalled, from my position it looked like at least 3of our players were off when the freekick was taken.

Harper for the the first ten or so games he played looked out of his depth, and he has improved. prob our most improved player of the season. Daly has never been sent off for punching someone(hayes) and acting like that after a game. What he did was pathetic, and will cost us dear.

Nobody to drag him away after the game?..............It's called self control
