Yes, plus "run by the fans for the fans". You are a paid up member so are you not entitled to your say ? Whether your fellow members agree or not.

Just curious that's all, just being a local punter and all that !! What did you do or say to incur their wrath ?

I - but not just me but several others - have been insisting that the election to the Society Board has to been SEEN to be fair, democratic and fully open to scrutiny. Will seems to have alighted on me as some sort of 'Leader of the Opposition' but I didn't even start the thread he's apparently taken so much objection to - which was one yesterday questioning why the election results would be put out on an ipod broadcast before being published on the website.

I posted that in a democracy the least we expected was that all the candidates and the votes cast for them would be published openly on the website for all members to see. It wasn't sufficient, I maintained, for the 7 winners just to be grandly announced by "the management".

This seems to have been the last straw for Will, who appears to feel I'm impugning his integrity. I've said, and repeat, that this wasn't the intention; the intention is to actually UPHOLD the democratic integrity of what MyFC is supposedly all about - bringing democracy into a football club, as has been repeated ad nauseam in many a media interview and advertising blurb.

There is also the factor of my freelance journalism status. Will appears suspicious of me - perhaps because of his own background in the media. But as I've said repeatedly, I'm not the one he wants to look out for. No, it's the quiet ones who've signed up as apparently innocent and ordinary members of MyFC and have said little or nothing to date that he'd want to be watching.

Still, it's Will's own free choice to make an enemy of me and pick a fight where there was none. smile

p.s. Perhaps I should add that this afternoon I had a wee chat with an NUJ legal bod and passed on Will's and my correspondence in this matter. If your man's intention was to rid himself of hassle, he might just have done the exact opposite. What larks !

From what I can work out, from the myfc forums, he just wants to know...

(1) What's your favourite Cheese ?
(2) Who voted to sign Ray Parlour for the Fleet next season ?
(3) Do you dunk hob nobs ?
(4) Will you be mentioning the "W" word...?

pertinent questions....

Of course, most organisations which want to be seen to be 'fair, democratic and fully open to scrutiny' use an external body, such as the Electoral Reform Society, to run their elections. That way there can be no doubt about the fairness of the election and no suspicion about the counting of votes. Is MYFC using any such external body?

(I'm not implying anything by this post - just after info)

Update :

Having taken legal counsel yesterday, I emailed Mr Brooks first thing this morning stating that as he had unilaterally and without notice banned me from the MyFC website, I was unable to exercise my membership rights of participatory ownership and team selection. I told him he had also disenfranchised me from the imminent Society Board elections. This is breach of contract and I requested that my MyFC membership be terminated forthwith and my fee refunded immediately. This does not affect my statutory rights in the matter. I have copied the email, plus relevant attachments, to a number of bodies including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the FA, consumer rights groups (including the BBC's 'Watchdog' programme) and media.

So far as can be determined to date, Mr Brooks has only exercised his "powers" in this manner against one member - an Irish person. The possibility of litigation on relevant grounds is being considered.

Watch this space !

I've met Brian when I was down for the Exeter game, seemed like a decent fella to me.

I couldn't believe that either.
The bloke who posted that has no idea what he is on about.
