Losing Interest?

A personal moan.

After last weeks disappointing u18 turn out v Maidstone, not sure if it was a case of no training no game or cant get there, but something appears to be going wrong. I know for some getting to Minster at 6 is not on but at HP there should be no excuse. At 8:45 Jamie got a call, game off because Tom could only get 9 players, illness? My view is take those 9 players, did it at Ramsgate in the MUSH.

Seems that somewhere down the line interest for and in the players has been lost. Not sure what the over all picture is but it does seem that the team is slowly falling apart leaving those who want to play behind. After the reserve set up chose to ignore the u18s(no game that week) when they needed to make up numbers a couple of weeks ago it make me wonder. Lots was said last year which proved to be pie in the sky for some and to some extent, then blanked. If there is a programme for these players it should be made clear to everyone so there is no misunderstanding, to question a players commitment because work prevents them from making training is not my idea of getting the best from them. Speaking to the few who turn up to watch the u18s I know there are good player who want to leave MFC, some even talking of Ramsgate. At this age there is a fine line between keeping interested and falling away and if it is MFCs intention to bring players on there should be more than just expecting them to turn up each week. When Jamie joined MFC at the begining of last season it was a breath of fresh air and it seemed the club (u18s/reserve) was going forwards, this season that feling has gone and whilst youth football has been a part of my life for 11 years, I too am now not interested.

I feel I have done enough over the last two seasons to have this moan.

it sounds like the under 18 set up needs a radicall shake up or we will end up losing another bunch of good players, why dosnt tom use the other age groups for back up im sure my sons age group the under 15s or nicks under 16s could fill a few gaps if needed,i must admit 6pm training is a bit early with work etc.i think tom should explore this ,we cant have the u18 to cease as this will have a knock on affect with the other age groups.

Hopefully lessons were learnt today and in the future they can pluck players from the u16s if needed. I don't know a great deal about the u18 set-up, and the way they pick from their pool of players, so maybe it's a bit of a closed shop?

I always thought that come the latter part of the season players from the lower age groups would be filtered through, u15s have a few games in u16s and so on. Last year a lot of the u18s, albeit mostly 2nd year u18s were filtered into the reserves with a couple of first year u18s. This gave chance for a couple of u16s to fill the gaps. Whilst last years u18s were exceptional and I feel that had they played together ALL season they might have made a name for themselves. But, and MFC did the right thing and took the cream for the res` causing the team suffered but that`s what it`s all about. Again I can only write from a personal view point, last seasen there seemed to be a stronger link between u18s and the reserves, not only with-in the players but management too. Like many, the reason I take the time is purely because my son plays (I think he`s not so bad at what he`s there for) and like most watching your son develope over the years gives pride and the urge to fight their battles, but I except that it`s other peoples opinions that count and fully except. However, if MFC want to keep their promising players at what ever age something more should be done by word or deed.

Differentgame please don't loose interest?

I watched one of the most promising games of football possible last night (and for a mere £2).

2 seasons ago we didn't even have a reserve set up. Please give me the ages of these lads that played last night. Matt Bowles, Steve Gibson, Sam Crampton, Shannon McNamee, Jason McAree, Darryn Vanhinsberg, Joe Taylor and Nick Moir. All these players certainly looked teenagers.

Very good and must be possible contenders for 1st team call ups, if required, on last night evidence.

p.s. Don't let the score fool you. Margate players completly dominated the match.

P.S.S. hopefully a couple of these might progress further again next season and then it's the likes of your Jamie and others to come through.
