Very lacklustre performance on Saturday. Rarely, if ever looked like scoring either with or into the wind. Difficult conditions but it was the same for both sides and they threatened a lot more than we did. As already mentioned 0 goals in the last 3 and only 1 in 4 is very worrying at this stage of the season. I struggled to understand why we kept pumping high balls up to a lone striker who wasn't the tallest player on the pitch, in a stiff wind

 

3 points tomorrow night is a must but it won't be easy. Folkestone had a good result at Carshalton Saturday and will be up for it.

I was at New Lodge for our 1-0 win in November and first half that day you absolutely murdered us. Of course, Matt Jones was sacked after that game. You have risen up the table since but, judging from Saturday, you no longer play the excellent football you did under Jones. As for the wind, if anything it was a disadvantage. We played our best stuff in the first half against the wind.

Quite rightly, there's much talk in this thread about the effects of recent performances on our play-off hopes. But we musn't forget that the league is still extremely tight, right down to the 1st relegation spot. We have a 9 point cushion over that at present. It was a great efort, pulling us out of that myre after Christmas. To waste it now would be ridiculous.

 

We have some tough fixtures in our remaining nine games; AFCW, Horsham, Staines, Hendon. Three points tomorrow night against Folkestone is essential.

Quite right rick, it's still all to play for.

 

There is no doubt that our players have the ability to win the required games, but they must A. believe and trust, & B, work their socks off.

 

Keith, the Margate keeper made two good saves, the one from Shaves looked a stunner from where I was sat.

 

Although I sort of understand what you mean Coffin Ender, that pretty football put us 2nd bottom.

We can still out play most teams, and have done so on many occasions this second half of the season.

As Keith said, its not the defeat we are discussing. its the manor in which our team applied itself, thats why everyone is so disappointed. Those of us who watch Billericay regularly, know we can be, and usually are, so much better than Saturdays performance.

Coffin Ender,

I can see your point re excellent football whilst Matt Jones was our manager,

But to be fair to our current managers they have bought the team back from the 2nd last spot that we sunk to whilst under Matt's management.

So hats of to Jason / Grant for a job very well done.

BUT & there is always a but, Now that we have got back up the table something has to be done about the slide these last few games have cost us.

 

Looking at the squad we have at present i just can't see any reason for our temp setback in the goals dept,

I showed a fellow blues fan (& converted rower) the twitter reports on last Saturday and we both agreed we now have a really strong team and a bench that would be the envy of most other clubs (and that did not include Joe Flack) We were both as annoyed as everyone else that it seemed to be the same type of game as the one the previous Saturday.

If we are going to loose a game then let's do it fighting to win.

 

So come on the SHOE ARMY get behind Jason/Grants BLUE ARMY on Tuesday and back up to that so close play off spot
