This could be a major issue for Horsham. Good luck to 'em.

Groundshare blow for Horsham

HORSHAM Football Club have been hit with a double blow this week in their search for a ground for the next campaign.

Negotiations with Crawley Town and Crawley Council have fallen through about the possibility of groundsharing at the Broadfield Stadium next season.

The Hornets were also given hope of staying at their current home for another year but that was snatched away from them.

Secretary John Lines commented: "I want to assure our fans that we haven't been sitting around doing nothing and will make life as comfortable as we can for all our fans who will be watching us next season.

"Our negotiations with Crawley council were never intended to come out to the public and unfortunately they've moved the goal posts so we are upset all round."

Mr Lines added: "Crawley council are currently negotiating a new lease with Crawley Town Football Club to run the entire stadium. Currently, they lease it and Crawley council provide all the maintanence but they are in the process of handing that over to Crawley Town Football Club.

"They have said that they cannot play matches on consecutive days and came up with a clause that whilst we will use our best endeavour we cannot guarantee that matches can be played on consecutive days, unfortunately our league cannot accept it.

"Persimmon Homes asked if we wanted to stay another year (at the Atspeed Stadium) which was of great relief to us but now they came back and said we still have to vacate on the 8th May.

"We were very frustrated that Persimmon Homes offered us the candy and then took it away," said Mr Lines.

"We are not standing still, we have had discussions with two other clubs about groundsharing but it would have been unreasonable to have gone into great detail because we thought we were going to Crawley.

"I can give you my assurances that we are within ten days, two weeks away from signing a contract."
