No Justice

It is madness Keith,

As I understand it, the FA are stating that they are sympathetic towards Grays, but they (Grays) went about the dismissal in the wrong way.

IE, Grays terminated his contract forthwith and they had no right to do so

The FA are suggesting what could have happened was, that each week said person did not turn up, Grays fine him a full weeks salary. Grays could have have done this each and every week until the person was out of contract.

Or, Grays could have written to the person after a few weeks of absence and warned him that further absences would leave Grays no option but to fire him.

End result the same... but with the added joy of a whole load of time-wasting red-tape paper-trail bureaucratic nonsense.

This is just my understanding of the matter you understand, I have not heard personally from the FA, and for the record, The FA do a wonderful job.

While agreeing with you that The FA are, indeed, wonderful and do, as you say, a wonderful job, I am amazed that common sense has not prevailed here.

There are, of course, procedures to follow in suspending or terminating players contracts, but this is an extraordinary situation and I cannot believe that the club have not been supported.

We no longer live in a commonsense society.

Things have to be done by the book now days.

The problem as I see it, is, although the people writing the books, and those administering the rules have qualification's in abundance, they often seem to be deficient in the commonsense dept.

If the FA, our governing body, can't support their own on an issue like this, then I guess our collective ride is about to get bumpier.

Seems to me that Mike Woodward certainly has the moral high ground so far, and reading the Grays forum he's carrying most of the fans with him.

Legally it seems likely that Grays will win their counter claim against the player for not disclosing the truth about his situation when he signed for them. Presumably the FA's view is that that is a separate issue, and Grays should pay him the monies owed & re-claim them if they win their counter-claim.

Apparantly Grays offered to "lodge" the money with the FA for "safe keeping" until the legal issues were resolved, but the FA refused, insisting it should go directly & immidiately to the player.

A couple of interesting ideas on their forum; that they should pay the mony to the victims family (that would strenghthen their moral position) & that, if suspended, the whole league should ignore it and carry on with the competition.

What has the PFA said about this?

Its a reflection of society, that there is nothing in place for the victim, and what there is available is seriously underfunded to be effective, but a whole raft of measures and safety nets for the comfort of the convicted.

Grays have no option of taking the FA blazers to a 'legal court' to have it overturned. Unfortunately we still have a system acting on the 'letter' of the law in the UK and not (as in France) in the spirit in which the law was written.

I can't see a Civil court up holding the FA decision. Although isn't there something in the FA rules, that if you legally make a challenge to the rules you will be suspended anyway?.....TC?

Mick Woodward has been invited to the FA on Monday. He seems confident a resolution is on the cards:-

Quote:
an FA statement to BBC Essex read: "The meeting with Grays on Monday will not be a negotiation of the order.

"Their failure to comply has given the FA no choice but to suspend them from all football from next Wednesday."

So I wonder what the meeting is about. Hopefully the public statements are a bit of "posturing", prior to some negotiation.
