Who is looking forward to Saturday

Recommended Posts

I see Liam has criticised the changing of the Kick Off time on Saturday. To repeat my earlier question, does anyone know on what grounds the Police requested (instructed !) this change ?

a) too many people might turn up at 3 ?

B) too many Aldershot 'erberts may turn up at 3 (p*ssed)?

c) too many Fleet fans may turn up at 3 (p*ssed)

c) too much drinking prior thereto ? Yeah.....the Government loves 24 hour drinking...despite the obvious implications, but not a couple of hours drinking prior to the game !!

d) Police want to get back to watch the Scotland v England rugby ?

e) or did they say something else ?

Ok........move forward a year or three....maybe, with our new found wealth & support, we find ourselves in the football league & therefore may have many high profile games ( Gillingham springs to mind, but Barnet, Brentford or any others in the South East). When do we play those ? 10 am on a Sunday ??

Why can't the Borough ( and all the associates that includes ) deal with a 3pm Kick off against Aldershot ?

'kin hell.....it's not Celtic v Rangers !!!

It is, regretfully, once again, all b*llocks !!

It doesn't happen too often Hirsty but this time I wholeheartedly agree!

I understand that last time they came there was some trouble in pubs in town.

I can't remember, but wasn't last season's match an evening kick off?

As I said on my previous thread the early kick off is due entirely to trouble caused by away "fans" in the town centre before the last match.

In my capacity as a Police officer I can see the logic of the change of kick off time, which will mean the game itself should be easier to police as the likelihood of trouble before the game is eased. This of course means that the possibility of "hopefully" cheesed off because they lost Aldersh*t fans causing problems after the game is, possibly heightened.

I would guess that the local police (I'm not Kent Police by the way) senior management think they can handle potential incidents with their normal resources and it will be cheaper with regards overtime etc. Bit of a cynical view and only an opinion but I bet I'm not far off the mark.

As a fan, however, I'm mighty pi**ed off by the early kick off!

I agree totally with Hirsty on this, Its not Celtic v Rangers, even if Aldersh*t do have a reputation for having a small number of idiots who still think we are living in the 1970's.

Some of us do live in Gravesend Jeffers

Hehe!
I'm actually thinking of walking to the ground on Saturday morning if the weather is nice. From Echo Sq, I reckon about 45 minutes.

Weather's supposed to be rainy. Train to Coopers sounds like a plan!
