I'm talking about your constant harping on about playing SSML matches over religious holidays at Christmas and Easter when you've said yourself that you can line your pockets with extra fans and bar takings, if that's not making money your God then I don't know what is

Hertfords attitude is the same as mine on this. Maximising revenue for the club means the Chairman might be able to stick a bit less in out of his pocket, or it means providing more comfortable facilities for supporters. Not everyone has the luxury of a ready made large stadium with plenty of seats like Copthall.

 

You choose to try and maximise revenue by pressing the flesh to try and ensure those punters return. Excellent, and we would all like to do that and I know a lot who do. But there is more than one way to try and ensure repeat custom.

 

Making supporters as welcome as possible is one good way sure enough. Providing comfortable surroundings to engender family custom is another, but takes money to provide. The money from derby day gates and holiday fixtures can all help to achieve that. Surely that makes sense?

I'm all for clubs maximising revenue, giving the supporters what they want and pressing the flesh. Preferably in equal measure.
