Ryman League Title Race

Recommended Posts

Chelmsford City a few weeks go were 15 points clear at the top of the table now their lead is down to 8 points ahead of AFC Wimbledon. Will the Clarets still be top at the close of the season?. Its going to be very close.

I visited Melbourne Stadium for the very first time a couple of weeks ago. What a sxxxxhole to watch football. So far from the pitch, no atomsphere, loads of pikey's in the bar, 'I think I'm hard' style stewards with loads of gob but no brain, fairground burgerbar selling overpriced grub, loads of city 'officials' walking around looking important but slagging each other off behind their backs. Glad I don't support that load of toilet or have to watch my footie team play at such an unwelcoming lifeless dump. When the moneymen get fed up and pull the dosh bye bye City.

It's a heady mix at Chelmo, Arena Boy. I recognise a lot of what you describe, but there are also a lot of decent, long-term supporters who get dragged throught the myre by the "johny come latelys".

How are things at Brentwood? Still an outside chance of a play-off place, but it looks a tough league this year.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

I'm pleased for all the 'old & true' city fans that their club is at long last back playing in their home town. But just felt unwelcome on my visit. Not like the New Writtle Street ground.

We still have an outside chance of a play-off place but recent results have not been good. Its a tough division competing with the likes of Dartford, AFC Sudbury and Canvey Island. Everybody is capable of beating eachother.

Still our fan base is growing and ground improvements are taking shape slowly but sure. Its been a learncurve playing at this level but a most enjoyable one. If we finish mid-table that is far better than we had hoped. Our plan was to stay out of the relegation places and build from there.

How are things at Billericay? Still in with a shout of the play-offs. Hope you make it.

Things are okay at New Lodge. We've had a couple of "blips" but you can't win 'em all. Our saving grace has been that many of the results last Saturday went our way but we can't rely on that every weekend. We all know we have the players to get us there and we have to grasp the "nettle" this weekend at Margate and get a result.

As for the title race...no, it isn't cut and dried but AFCW have had a couple of strange results as well as good results. If they had won last Tuesday, the title race would've looked a lot tighter. I would say that it isn't as cut and dried as it looked a month ago BUT Chelmsford are very much in the driving seat...

...it's down to who blinks first...AFCW or Chelmsofrd.

As an old school claret I can have some sympathy with arena's views , Melbourne is not ideal for watching football and is never going to be and there is a sort of uneasy truce between the old City support and what Rik calls JCL , some of the newer support being the most vocal on the clubs numerous messageboards seems to put some of the older folks noses out of joint , the AFC game is looking bigger by the week but I believe that we will hang on & clinch the title.

With their lead down to 8 points and a couple of tougher home matches coming up in the form of Staines & AFCW, it's just possible that Chelmo may not be as comfortable as they'd like to be.

But I tend to agree; even if results dont go exactly to plan I suspect they'll still hang on to top spot. And from a selfish point of view, if we were to make the play-offs I'd prefer not to come up against Chelmsford again!

I don't like the "local derby" factor in the play-offs.

But then again, I rekon us v. Hx would be a great play-off game, and I wouldn't worry if we were either home or away?

I Guess I'm just all mixed up crazy

That's just plain wrong, Claret Fan. As has been said by many, including a lot of your fellow fans, M.P. is not the best place to watch fotball BUT it is a home for you & it is back in Chelmsford. And as for better footbal... it's subjective but I don't think the spectacle has been over impressive on my last couple of visits to your place.

No one's jealous of anything. Everyone wants the best for their own club. That's what being a supporter means.

I was led to believe that the tax payer owned the track & field & that CCFC rented it from the council hence the "we can only play on Monday" set up.

Mind you Claretfan your locals could get a lot of "bandwagons" on that excuse of a pitch.
