where will we stand

Recommended Posts

History tells us that when the fleet have a big game the people of the town turn up in the thousands, aldershot is a big game, so where will we stand. In the past weve not had segregation to deal with, which now means a quarter of the ground is now unavailable to home fans and that quarter is where most of the capacity is. The plough end is now reduced to 500 people, the main seated stand has a capacity of around 300/400, a couple of hundred standing next to it.This now leaves just the road stand to house the majority of home support, this stand has now got a reduced capacity due to the club shop, away travel hut, TV gantrys, yellow lines and an empty segregated area. What ever time the kick off is, my advice is get there early or you may not get in.

The game agaist canvey had no segregation and as ive already stated the largest capacity area is the away end.

What is your point?..you need to be more concise..are you saying that the thousands of Aldershot fans are going to take up the Whole of the away end and by some miraculous miracle our hardcore of 800-850 fans is going to swell to 3000+ for this game? Fact of the matter is the crowd will be between 1800-2000, so more than enough room for you to stand wherever you feel like standing..but not on the yellow lines.

I will try again, there is more standing capacity at the swanscombe end of the ground(we are not allowed there)than the northfleet end.So IF there is a big turnout by the people of gravesham + a few from myfc, where will they stand.

I think it is a situation where most people will think we will cross that bridge when we come to it. And if we do get a full house as far as the home support concerns I will be absolutely delighted.

Does it, I'm struggling to think of one since the Sunderland FA Cup match in 1963.

Even the Canvey match wasn't caused by thousands of local supporters turning up, but fans from Ryman clubs all over Essex coming to see what promised to a good contest.

Notts County (2nd Round FA Cup) less than 3,000
Colchester (1st Round FA Cup) about 2,500.

I doubt many of the locals will bother to get out of their armchairs for this one.

Glad you will be at the Fleet Saturday. I had penciled in a weekend in Sheffield for the QPR game, but sadly the Hirsty Fiscal strategy would not allow it ( skint !). Anyway, glad to be going to support my home town team, whatever kick off time it is !!

Cheers,

1300-1400, I've not really noticed a vast upturn in league match attendances, so if we get 1800-2000 due to MYFC interest( 40% increase)for the Aldershot game..I would personally be more than happy, would be happier if we could get that level of support every home game.

But as Harry has pointed out a couple of big Premiership games kicking off either side of ours will definitely effect the numberds turning up.

...and....there will be a few more locals turning out for a bigger than normal game on Saturday.

If ( hopefully ) we get to Wembley, you will probably see the 1,000 home gate swell to at least a 15,000 fleet support, and hopefully more, which will be good. Shame a few more of them don't get to San Stonebridge a bit more often !!

Cheers,
