Alienation of traditional fan base.

Recommended Posts

At half time at yesterdays game , an idiot , whom is not part of the regular away following , ran onto the pitch. These types of incident do not give the club a positive image at a time when any indescretion will be noted. If anyone can ID this guy and he is a MYFC member or a Fleet Trust member , then I suggest he has his memberships revoked and his details circulated to other clubs. I do hope he was a local guy with no intrest in Vics and hence went in the away end. If you are reading this , then please do some research and look into the match reports from earlier in the season when Tynan played a few games for us and undoubtedly saved us a points. You are an idiotic human being and the genuine fleet base do not want your type. The fact that you were seen walking alone around the ground after the game show sthat your "friends" had abandoned you as well.

Secondly. Can everyone please take a step back and think that this is real peoples jobs that you are dealing with.

I have responsibilities for the Fleet Trust that I used to enjoy doing. I do still enjoy meeting the new support when they visit Stonebridge Road but am getting increasingly fed up by the idiotic comments like "We are rebuilding your club" wrong as its not been knocked down. "Why arent you selling x y and z" . Well its a decision we made. We know what does and doesnt sell. But the winner of most idiotic comment was "Why do you sell a Gravesend and Northfleet Book?"

Now onto another gripe. We are fast approaching the election of MYFC board members. Can we just stop all the pointless questions. Asking someone there favorite animal just shows how detached certain members are mentally. Asking a friend of mine wether they should stand because they are overqualified is insulting to that person.

Get a grip guys. Play real or dont play at all.

This is a personal perspective and is not the views of MYFC , The Fleet TRust or anyone associated with the club.

"These types of incident do not give the club a positive image at a time when any indescretion will be noted."

By whom Riverview? My guess is that the 'traditional fan base' are the ones most likely to note - and score points from - any indisctretion. The old expression is; cutting of your nose to spite your face.

Yesterday was my third away game. 'Your' (Ebbsfleet's) away fans are changing and growing. And we may have some issues to sort out. You accuse the 28,000 of not going to games and of not understanding the game. Yesterday's game brought out some passion.

We need to draw some lines, but there's a solid away fan base building.

"Don,t worry to much about it old son. We will get our club back one day when the furore dies down. Stay with it."

Bill. I know that lots of you want a return to the good old days of part time, football. But the decision to take costs and 'move up a bit' was made before MyFC. MyFC is a potential solution to a problem caused a while ago. You can't go back.

Why don't we work together to make this solution work and/or shape it to keep people like you happier? Or are you happier to just complain as well.

When clubs go out of business, nobody has a job to go to. Hopefully this is much less likely to happen now.

You just dont get ot do you Ian. The incident yesterday is something that should be nipped in the bud now. I speak to a lot of people both old and new support and some form both camps are not intrested in progressing as a team. Some are anti MYFC from the old fanbase and some are not intrested in the existing fans and trying to interact with us. There are a few who do make the effort. If someone comes up to me and asks questions about the team , our performances this season , views on name change then that shows an intrest. If someone just wants somewhere to get drunk and meet up with their internet chums then there are internet cafes for them.

I also take offence to your claim that I accuse 28000 of not going to games and not understanding. Where? I have no issues with increased away support. It helps the team , it yesterday put a bit more money into a cash strapped club. But we are ambassadors for EUFC and as such should embrace the club.

I am not commenting anymore or defending my views. They are my opinion and I am happy to discuss with anyone in a civil manner at Tuesdays game.

Thank you for a reasoned response. Not actually what I was expecting from this forum. I concede (a bit). There are things to be sorted out. Given the come from behind win, and the obvious passion of the fans, I guess my question is do we (you) really have a problem with yesterdays away fans? I hope I'm now phrasing this in a better fashion.

I think the improvement in away fan participation on the whole has been a good thing. How do you 'old timers' want it steered in a different direction.

I hope you enjoy Tuesday's game, and we all get a good result.

Not having drunken fools running on to the pitch and being ignorant arses, slagging off a keeper, I hear, who served us well for 5 or so games when Lance was out earlier this season.

Whoops :-) You know it felt like a win. Like when we won 0-0 last Saturday in Burton.

I'm sure Scott, Ebbsfleet supporters old and new, and our gracious hosts for the day have met the occasional drunken fool in their past. If these things are handled with some humour and grace (and this was), there's often no problem.

Is that the Paul Harrison book?

Still haven't got round to buying that and at least one Christmas and birthday has passed since it has been out.

I think that I may shortly be heading to Amazon or visiting the shop on Tuesday night.

UU please give me some time to settle in. It's difficult on a forum to read the tone of the posts and the posters. I've never met any of you; you could all be axe murderers for all I know.
