An ugly win is better than none at all!

View from the end, we never really seemed to be too settled: Marlow were playing almost a blitz defence, very close and fast and in our faces, so they disrupted service a good deal: Chennels was missing service up-front and rarely seemed to get space to work. We only really looked good when running the ball through them on the wings, and we had a fair few goalmouth scrambles which we were lucky to escape.

Dare I say it... we missed Coyney!

 

On the plus side, though, Marlow didn't look convincing either, and were more on the back foot than us: I think we bossed the game even though we struggled to properly shape it. And the ref really didn't do us favours, some of the 'fouls' he awarded on the appeal were less than convincing - even the unprovoked straight red he gave their player (apparently for calling him a fallarking conice, or similar) saw Chennels called back from a very useful-looking run.

 

MoM for me was probably Ben, for activity and effort, or Seb for the clean sheet: but all the defence looked good, Liam also seemed a lot more involved than he has for a few games, and Willo's goal was deserved.

the game had the potential to be a classic,in the end it was average although i wasnt disapointed with the effort we put in and tactically i thought we didnt get it too wrong,the defence is looking solid and very capable,think back a few months ago we would have gifted it. marlow looked like they came for the draw and packed their defence making it difficult,its wins like these which will get us into the play-offs,and uxbridge lost which is good news although bridgwater won. yeah Ben ran his socks off.next stop thatcham.

Dan i think you might be a bit too negitive. Against a side scoring for fun recently we looked fantastic! No danger at the back and had alot of the ball

 

I wonder how Howard will be feeling Sunday morning!!!
