Fortunately other results have been relatively kind to us over the past couple of weeks, but it is worrying that we've been unable to capitalise on that to put ourselves firmly in contention.

Margate have a pretty good record over thelr last 6 home games, so next Saturday will be interesting.

A lot of players didn't look quite "sharp" enough yesterday, either physically or mentally. There didn't seem to me to be a lot of urgency about us.

The contrast with our performance at Boreham Wood was stark. Hopefully we'll find that form again next week.

You never stop do you, you sad little man. In a thread that is supposed to be about your result yesterday, we still have to have a little dig with regard to your "friends" up the road.
Anyway, despite the fact that attendance figures are of no consequence whatsoever in the grand scheme of things (that's what you keep saying isn't it?), I believe Folkestone's attendance yesterday DOES prove that a good few of my fellow Clarets DO travel.
After eliminating the AFCW attendance, their average home crowd has been 328 (including away supporters), so I would say that there were a good 70/100 Clarets there yesterday.

and of course if we had taken less than 10% of our home support, LocalFan would be on this very board declaring that AFCW 'don't travel very well at all' would he not? grin

Visiting teams know our system now and on the evidence of our last couple of home games it appears quite easy for average (meaning average and not poor)teams to stifle our creative players.

I thought the same thing, because i said in the past thread it reminded me of the Harrow game, it seems to me they have cottened on and are able to stifle our play.Blue fan

Thing is, you may expect that from the top teams; the ability to come to New Lodge & steal a point. But the fact that teams like Harrow & Ashford have done it is concerning.

I would agree with you there and I mentioned it to "top supporter analyst" jl during the game (in between an outburst or two). What strikes me as quite interesting is, how news travels about our system...We've been watched obviously.

I don't think it's just down to the system. On Saturday, as with the Harrow game, our decision making as to what ball to play was a tad off kilter as well as our passing. If we had played with a similar verve and vigour as the Horsham and AFCW game, I'm sure we would've come away with three points...And let us not forget that we did have two one on ones with the keeper playing the sam system system on Saturday.

But this is all forgetting that Ashford have a system as well and are / were 2nd in the form table. They have been playing very well of late and therefore, with the windy conditions, a stale mate is not a surprise.

Another thing to consider is, did Buckfield have a save to make in the 2nd half? I can't remember him making one...so...one would say that the system works but for a couple of players having a day off in the "decision stakes".

As we're looking back, Boreham Wood is a difficult game to call. We did changes the system and but for an injury looked as that would work as well. The team played very well, during the first half especially and it was a couple of great saves from the keeper that made the difference. If those chances had stuck, it make had been a different game...

The results over the weekend have gone our way but the players have to grasp the nettle over the next couple of weeks. We were doing very well up to the Harrow game but have now appeared to have stopped in our tracks...Time to get that "attitude" back and dominate teams and start to stamp our authority on the game.

Some would accuse us of being "nice" over the past couple of weeks...well, from now on...No more Mr. Nice Guy. Come Blues, we all know you can do it.

Someone should pin this up in the changing room

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest English.
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs were made in England, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

Err i don't think so BC.

Unlike the Clarets most other teams have not got to cross a track & field and dodge the blow away dugout's prior to gaining entry to the Pitch.

I was thinking something very similar on the way to work this morning. I think our tactics have been rumbled over the last couple of home games and we haven’t looked quite as effective as in previous matches.

We have, on paper two winnable games as our next two at home (and by that I mean sides below us in the table). I would like to see two up front (initially Burbs and Bricknell) with BWG and Hodges down the flanks. This may leave us slightly open through the middle but let the oppo worry about our attacking threats and how to deal with them first and foremost. We have options on the bench to change things about should we need to anyway.

For away games, the current formation is fine IMO. I thought we were unlucky at Boreham Wood, which could have been a different result but for an unfortunate early injury and some decent keeping.

Our recent run without a win hasn’t cost us as much as it could have done, but is equally as frustrating as a few more points here and there would have put us in a stronger position. Other than Chelmo and now AFCW at the top and Leyton at the foot, the table is extremely tight and there is still much to play for.

I thought we created more than enough chances to win the game comfortably, taking those chances was our problem. We had One-0n- Ones, headers, shots, and goal mouth scrambles, but no goals.

But what a difference a few months make eh, our expectations have risen dramatically and are back to where they should be

It was a poor game overall from both sides. We definetly had the more clear cut chances but we almost conceded to the free header they got from a free kick. I thought we looked a tad lack lustre and in some ways appeared to be going through the motions of the game. However, it could be a point won and TC is right...How our expectations have suddenly gone up from that of 5 odd weeks ago smile
