Virus alert

If anybody out there has either 'cdawson' or 'clarenceparksa' in their email address books they have a virus called W32.Klez.H@mm on their PC.

 

I know this because it is sending me email with the virus in an attached file.

 

Let me know if you have this virus (or know either of these people) and I'll tell you how to get rid of it.

I got a couple of emails, one today and one yesterday.

 

One was from an address I didn't recognise, and indeed had an attachment that got stopped at the virus customs.

 

The one yesterday was called "Garden Of Eden" and came from JBrewer. Same sort of thing. Very odd, cos I'm sure James doesn't have my email address - guess it could've been a coincidence.

 

I tried emailing it back, and the address was unrecognised (a bit like EFM, I guess!)

 

Any ideas??

Apparently the virus uses one of many titles, and selects a random name out of the address book as the 'sender' of the email, so it's probably someone who knows James, not James himself.

Well, the virus detector that we have here did not allow delivery of either attachment.

 

Does that mean I'm ok, or should I run that Security Response tool anyway??

No, you should be OK. Just make sure the email and the attachment are physically deleted.
