o/t pubs in windsor

can anyone tell me the best pubs to drink in before the game apart from the ground bar,looking for something a bit quiet not to rowdy.(new to windsor)

The Stag is on St Leonard's Road, just opposite the ground. Decent beer too - Bombardier. Even if the football's on the big screen, the other side tends to be quiet.

 

Further off, it depends which direction you're coming from, really. If you're walking from Clewer Hill Road, there's the Albert on the corner, which is pretty quiet and friendly. Coming the other way, the Fawn's maybe a bit lively, the Duke of York always seems to be very quiet, although neither of these two ever seem to have real ale on if you're a fan: or if you're walking through the housing estate from Imperial Road or Alma Road then the Alma (on Springfield Road) is very good.

 

If you're coming from the town centre, there's loads of choice, but assuming you want to go the direct way down Peascod St & St Leonard's Road then probably the Criterion and the Trooper are quietest: Crosses' Corner is OK in the daytime also.

Windsorian serousily the stag is hardly loud pre-game! At most it's freindly ( and only full of the windsor fans!) the Duke however is EMPTY after games ( until 7ish when we trudge down there)

Well i was in alot better state than Howard last night!! Still got that Sonia song stuck in my head. An interesting night in the Duke of York!!
