WEFC Youth 2 Maidenhead Utd Youth 4

WEFC Yth got back into to action on Wednesday at Stag Meadow with Maidenhead the visitors. With Windsor's squad a few players short, a tough game was expected against our strong neighbours. However, within seven minutes, WEFC were in front when Alex Jayes popped up in the box to slide the ball home. The referee set the tone for his performance a few minutes later when he ignored a blatant foul on Craig Bartlett which allowed the visitors to equalise. However, shortly after, AJ again got forward from midfield to execute a cool lob to put Windsor back in front going in to the break. It was always felt that the next goal would be crucial and, unfortunately, it went to Maidenhead. Mark Lines made a fantastic goal line clearance only for the ball to fall kindly for a Maidenhead striker to easily equalise. Shortly after, a long range shot crept into the WEFC net and we were now chasing the game. The elusive equaliser wouldn't come as the run of the ball just wouldn't go our way. A breakaway goal right on full time sent Windsor down to another defeat.

The performance, however, was considerably better than of late, and although Maidenhead had the better of it overall, we felt that we deserved something out of the game. It just seems that every mistake is geting punished at the moment but we hope that a bit of luck will come our way before long. 16 year olds Arron Fergus and Mark O'Shaughnessy were outstanding on the night. Some experimenting with positions saw Craig Bartlett and Mark Lines also impress. Rob Lazarczuk continues to show real promise in midfield.
