Saints 1, FC Throttur 1

A right royal St. Albans welcome at Clarence Park last night for Icelandic side F.C. Throttur resulted in a keenly contested 1-1 draw.

"Reykjavik based Throttur were promoted to the Icelandic Premier Division at the end of last season and were a decent footballing side. Barry White showed his shot-stopping ability on several occasions but City led at the break thanks to a super strike from Martin Young. The visitors deservedly drew level in the 70th minute thanks to a goal from Soren Hermansen following a goal mouth scramble.

Cookie took the opportunity to look at three triallists, central defender Russell Hunt and midfielders Danny Griggs and Andy Oxby. Griggs, 21, started his career with Crewe Alexandra and has since had spells at Nantwich City and Northwich Victoria. Oxby spent 3 years on the books of Norwich City before being released last Summer and he has been since been playing for Barking & East Ham Utd. "

Good morning AFF.

So the red carpet was well and truly rolled out last night. I told you everything would be OK.

Questions though...three trialists at this time of the season ? I understand you have a successful youth team and reserve set up. Were any of these players given an opportunity ?

Yes, caretaker.

Three 747's at Luton airport. Motorcycle outriders for the team and supporters coaches. Pre-match Civic reception. The St Albans Brass Band and The Dagenham Girl Pipers. Tickertape welcome as the teams took to the pitch. Oasis were the support gig at half-time. Clapton was 'unplugged' in the clubhouse after the game. We gave them a night they won't forget in a hurry.

Triallsts? That's football and as you know, I don't know anything about football. Craig and Greg played the whole of the second half, if that's any help.
