Yeah! Canvey v St Albans, now that was a real game, great atmosphere, great banter, great beer.

Should be a good one next season!

Not very charitable seeing as we made sure that you got the biggest attendance ever at Park Lane last night. It was slightly embarrassing that we took 2000+ and you could not even mange to bring 1500 and most of them were mute and left after 70 minutes, but for a team that can only get 300 for its local derbies I suppose you must be delighted with your home support.

Its sad that a team that plays an attractive game like Canvey will never be able to play in the Conference but your lack of fans & poor ground standard means that Conference football will never be achievable. Oh well at least you have your big games against St Albans to look forward to i'm sure that they will pull in the big crowds of 450+ next season.

Why because we bring loads of away support which makes other teams believe they are playing a cup final!! We must have made you at least £25,000 last night and you are still not thankful.

 

Oh well you are losing your Cash Cow now so you better get used to crowds of 350 and no atmosphere for the next few years until Wimbledon get promoted.

Tee, hee I do love an argument. Anyway good luck in the Conference next season. I think you'll do OK.

Despite what you say we will be joining you soon in the Conference. Lack of support is no barrier to success. We just have to get over it.

 

To be honest, for the most part your support is excellent and really get behind the team but you have a minority that lets everyone down. You really need to stamp this out. I do hope you get back into the football league as repayment for those who have stayed faithful to the club since their league days. As I said this minority has blighted you and given you a reputation in the Ryman League that you don't deserve.

In fairness you belong in the Conference. Sort out the troublemakers and you'll earn the respect that you deserve

Yeah I enjoy an argument 2! Think you will have to raise your support by an extra 500 to have any chance in the Conference. You would get that surely by reducing your prices £9 is a ridiculous price for this level of football! Hope for your sake that your board reduces entry prices for your remaining games this season to try and entice all of the floaters from last night to come and watch you for the rest of the season and for next!

To be honest it seems everybody in the non league is moaning about their crowds. St Albans for example have had a good season, been near the top for most of it yet their average crowd is worse than ours. St Albans is a city with a big population, so is Bedford but their crowds are worse than ours.

Aldershot's advantage is they're a former league club with a good tradition and have retained a large amount of this support from their league days.

Let's be honest, ten years ago Canvey were nowhere in non league terms. It takes years to build a fan base and the fact that Canvey can attract regular crowds of 500/600 when just ten years ago they were an Essex Senior League club is remarkable. Can you see any of the current ESL clubs(perhaps Enfield Town apart) attracting that sort of crowds if they matched our success.

 

Our crowds could and should be better and certainly the potential is there. Obviously the admission price doesn't help.

£7 for OAP's seems stupid as well surely a town near the sea side has a large OAP population knock it down to £4 and you will prob get an extra 100 people straight away.

 

Yes you are improving thats is why you should not be shooting yourselves in the foot charging £9 now.

 

You need to build the club up, prices of about £6 I think would increase your gates by another 250 throw in a kid for a quid scheme and advertise it widely and you will get another 200.

 

Thats an extra 550 people on your gate, get em hooked by playing some attractive football and when / if you do get to the conference you will have a fan base of a 1000 and you can further build on that with the prices then going up to £9 which would be competitively priced seeing as Southend will be charging an extra fiver for only a slighlty better standard of football!!

 

Its not rocket science is it??!!
