Calling any sports club or sporting organisation with more than 300 members, Enfield Council would like to hear from you about any ideas you may have regarding the future of the QE2 stadium.

(details in today's Advertiser and not from my secret informer)

 

Do we have more than 300 members? At the last count we had less than 300 shareholders, but what constitutes a member? Hopefully it's someone who plays football under the name of ETFC.

It's an interesting threshold. Low enough to be inclusive, or sufficiently high to be exclusive. I wonder?

There aren't many clubs in Enfield with 300 members so the latter seems to be the better bet.

Whatever the council have in mind.What are the chances that we as a club and local residents in general will be stitched up with regard to any decision?? From previous experience, i would think, very high.

Ah, those happy days when we had 400 or so members.....

 

I have a horrible idea that the 300 figure was selected to specifically exclude ETFC. The council will do anything to avoid spending any money on the QE (or anything else apart from councillor's expenses).

Constitutionally, can players be members given possible conflict of interest on playing matters?

If not a problem..pay their fees andsign them up to get the 300 and take it out of their payments/fees.

 

Where is QE2 relative to Enfield?

if it doesn't we should go on a massive recruitment drive. maybe make temporary membership free?

 

i am fairly sure we are going to get stitched up whatever....

The QE stadium is much near the centre of Enfield than Brimsdown.It is also only 400 yards away from the original Southbury Rd stadium.

all those who register with the club, so kids, women, men become members, share holders could be something seperate.

 

so the threshold is no problem, I am sure our Membership Sec is on the case

Who knows.There are at least 3 parties that have shown an interest in the site.ETFC / E1893fc / The rugby club currently based in Donkey Lane. ETFC would probably like to see a total demolition/rebuild of the site apart from the mainstand/cafe building.The other two parties would probably agree to playing in the middle of the running track and just carry out work needed to meet minimum standards of the repective leagues they compete in.

 

You can be sure the council have an ulteria motive.You can be sure that the 300 comment is significant to who they would prefur to install at the stadium.

 

The rugby club bar is always busy.I wonder if they have more than 300 members? Or have the council worked out that ETFC and 1893 probably have 300+ members between them and are trying to initiate a merger??

Maybe certain people were given a inside tip-off to the required level of members needed to bid for the QE. I thought it was strange when 1893 reinstalled loads of kids teams back into the fold last year at the height of the liqiudation.

 

 

Ps.Lets not forget that the council have alreay cocked up big time.They could have got Spurs to build a new stadium on the site for FREE,but knackered that concept by rejecting the planning application with that proposal in it.(worryingly, maybe part of the reason the counil rejected the plan,was because they would prefur ETFC not to have the site?)

You may have a point.If the council specify a number of members they know no local club has.Then it gives them a warped mandate to offer the site to developers.
