Chertsey 3 vs 2 Reading Town

No.

Been there, done that, had a bit of fun at the time, but look at where we are now. Just a bit more local interest and sponsorship is all we're asking for now. Sugar daddys are fun for a while, but they rarely last, and you usually end up in a far worse position from where you started!

Great banter on this website, but to put the record straight particularly for those few of you who have nothing better to do that criticize-

Chertsey Town will have a playing budget of no more than a £1000 a week next season (the previous manager had up to £1200)

At least two clubs this season have had budgets of £800+ so the budget is sensible for us to have a chance of promotion although we expect there to be a lot of clubs up there

As much as we have been linked and have supposedly signed at least twenty players in the last two weeks most of that is total rubbish and ANY player who comes to the club will have to want to play for the club first and not just for money or the other benefits the club now has

kevin Cooper has joined us from Cove as part of our management team. We have not or did not seek to sign most of their first team it is just that many of their players have followed Coops and want to be considered for Chertsey now or in the future

The current crop of players are not being discarded and are decent honest players who have had their chance and if perform will stay at the club

Kingsmeadow (ex Holmes Place FC whom I managed for 11 years) is being disbanded at the end of the season and will become Chertsey Reserves so allegations along those lines are baseless and pathetic

I own 90% of the clubs shares so 'am not putting the money in for the sake of it'. I am not the Chairman as I do not have the time to run the club day to day and Steve Powers does a great job.

Pehaps mangers here who crticize me and the club should look after their own teams especially those that go around smashing players in the face for no apparent reason and are struggling near the bottom of the league. I know that this league is tough and it will be bloody hard for us to get out of it in our first full season but we are putting a lot of time, money and effort into it so don't criticize us or me for that. I do not have an endless pot of money and we will need to progress but at least we are trying. Worst case is that the club has improved as for starters we have 22 teams form u5's up that are all newly kitted out in Addidas

Finally I have been called a lot of things in my life, many justifiably, but 'nice tim but dim'!!!! I'm certainly not dim as anyone who knows me will tell you!!! Funny though!!!

Good luck to all you genuine supporters of the CCL out there

Spencer, Chertsey Town

Reading have improved incredibly since earlier this season with a good crop of energetic players. We stunned them early on with an early goal and for 20 mins there was only one side in it although we didn't create much. The very fast forward scored a great individual goal from nothing to make it 1-1 although shocking defending and then Reading were the better team for the rest of the half if only just. 2nd half another poor goal from our point of view but a very tight game that looked to be going Readings way especially with two shocking penalty calls going their way which not even their manager could believe. A partial mistake from their keeper let us back in it and then for the final 10 mins all us and at last a deserved pen for the winner from Coops in the 90th min. We just about deserved it but Reading deserve a huge credit for their improvement and on this form they have no chance of being relegated
