:-)

I moved away many years ago but also was at the Canvey game which was as packed as the Nott'm Forest game, about 6,500.
Maurice Norman used to record 412 for game after game a few years ago.
Now the club has sold out to computer geeks there is little need to actually watch the game in the cold, interacting with other human beings and their nasty habits when MyFC provide a video link.
Maybe actual (human interaction) gates will soon return back to Maurice Normans 412 ( less me - 411 )

Just about as much proof as we have that the gate was incorrect!

Also had to queue on way in just after 7pm, also had to queue to buy programme!

(Usual queues for beer, and chips!)

:-) if you thought that was packed like sardines, then what do you think it was like in 1963 when 12,000 (give or take a thousand) were there. /quote]

Yeah, but everyone was smaller in the 60s cos you grew up without bananas and stuff cos of the war rationing. I read it in The Sun once or something.

Plus Football Supporters in those days went to actually watch the match, and not start a war, so a limitation on space wasn't a problem. I was there, and the kids were all allowed to stand at the front so they could see. I still have the photo(from The Reporter, when it was a newspaper) of myself and two of my mates behind the Plough End goal!

Hate to break ranks but I don't think that the official attendance figure was that far out at all. The main stand was really quite poorly populated. The unsegregated end hardly had 75-80 home fans on it during the first half. There was plenty of room in the Stonebridge Road side (even some gaps next to the barriers) and barely half full behind the seated area. Perhaps MyFC will install computerised turnstiles for next season to avoid this perpetual myth of under declaring the attendance. Actually there had been plans to install new turnstiles for the beginning of the season. The Club were interested in buying some that were available at Sheffield Utd (hence my cryptic questions to Hirsty) but for reasons I will not go into the transaction did not take place.
