For someone who wasn't even making the bench a fortnight ago he has forced his way back into the starting line-up, well done Rafa. applause

I respect your views Slarti, but I just think the pairing works that well. There didn't seem to be a great understanding or positional awareness between them, which is needed for them to be effective.
I'm not saying that Akinde + Eribenne or Moore would work any better, but against a lacklustre uninventive Burton, I just couldn't see a striker scoring (which they didn't in 210 minutes of football).

True, Akinde's unmarked header straight at the keeper from about three yards in the first half of extra time was probably the most glaring miss.

Most of the others seemed to fall to Long, although McPhees half volley over the bar in the second half and Moores late volley could all have lead to an emphatic win.

I think a player like Rafa forcing his way back into the side should be applauded, we all know he is the right age, has the right physical attributes and has scored well in the past. If he can just rediscover the goal touch then it would be like signing a new player.

I'll chance this wee true tale which was prompted by the Burton the tailors mention ...

Way back in the mists of time (c 1971) when I was a schoolboy in Derry and The Troubles were raging, a deaf and dumb man was accidentally shot by the British Army in Strabane, County Tyrone, for failing to stop when called upon to do so. In the same week, Burton the Tailors was blown up in the centre of Derry by the PIRA.

Cue the local wags : "Bad week to be a dummy."

Sorry, I'll get my coat. frown

A hugely enjoyable (although equally nerve-wracking) game with a thrilling climax. It's really reassuring that, despite my grave misgivings about MyFC and my belief that the MyFC concept is wrong on so many levels, such worries can be put to one side (at least temporarily) without cheapening my enjoyment of such an enthralling game as last night's (the sort of match (in terms of entertainment) that only normally crops up two or three times a season). Last night was a welcome reminder that through all the recent turmoil my passion for the Club (note the emphasis) remains undimmed.

Sacha was certainly a contender for man of the match, but Long (two hours in, where did he get his energy from for chasing that loose ball down the right towards the end?) and McCarthy must have been running him close.

And I'm with Slarti on Rafa.

It was a great night last night.

Cannot believe that a potential MyFC board member left in extra time to catch a train.

Yeah the person should of stayed for the whole game as there was no chance they would miss the last train. Plus they missed all of the Plough End going absolutely ballistic. Great great atmosphere and even better after we scored. Just wished I could of stayed longer after the final whistle to celebrate with the Fleet faithful.

Anything goes in my private room except for STD's. :-)

The pensioner in question is a bloke called Dave who used to work with my daad many moons ago.
He has been going to the Fleet since 1947 and has rarely missed a home match.
He was so happy last night and said it was one of his best ever moments following the Fleet.

Feel the love.

Stacy must have a hell of an engine, in the second half of extra time he looked the fastest player on the pitch.

Particularly when celebrating his goal.
