Am sure Roy Keane would agree!
But I would suggest that the difference between all the above comments, and the ones made on Radio Kent about the NCBA/Fleet game were that you actually witnessed the dire performances, and were not giving an opinion based on just the score?

Ah, Derry City v EMFA (later to become Kilkenny City) in the Brandywell snow and fog of Christmas 1985. City, pushing for promotion, enlisted the help of loads of supporters to clear the pitch and get the game played. We shouldn't have bothered. You couldn't see one end of the pitch from the other. Still, Derry laid siege to the EMFA goal and all our fans were down that end to see the expected net-bulge ... eventually, please Glorious Saints Patrick and Colmcille.

Alas, up there somewhere in the snowy mist the gods of footy hadn't read the script and EMFA burst out of their area with a long punt downfield which their lone bewildered forward caught full on the volley as it fell from the darkened sky and thundered into the roof of the Derry net past a frozen-to-the-spot keeper who'd had nothing to do since kick-off.

That was it, promotion was bxggered for that season and we all trooped homewards to make bowls of steaming hot soup and put our feet in them.

Now that, dear reader, was dire.

That just shows how much they know,, Yes the Gills first home goal of the season was good news but to describe the Burton match as dire is verging on the ridiculous.

For a 0-0 draw it was a very entertaining match, it could have been 4-4 or 4-0 to either side.

4-O to G&N on Tuesday would be good.
