a)winning games,

playing attractive football.

c) pushing for a play off spot.

d) Made the Trophy quarter final, (so far)

Reckon Liam has the team about right. Perhaps too 'Tight' in the middle for my liking, which doesn't really matter too much as both Sacha and Mcphee tend to bomb down the flanks.

It will be almost as interesting seeing who makes the banch tonight. Hopefully plenty of attacking alternatives.

Not too sure about 'the first' Harry, but I was sure that one of the first posts I made when I joined the forum constituted a discussion about formations on a thread started by Gary called 'No more 4-5-1, but what would you do?'. In fact I was so sure that I had to check.

In this discussion Gary seemed to express a preference for something else entirely;

I (along with Fleet Fanatic and Nellyi) professed a preference for 4-4-2 to which Gary responded;

Sorry for the trolling (I think that is what you kids call it these days) and this wasn't a willy waving exercise, I'm no more an expert than anybody else on here, but I just had to bring this up to give lie to the grandiose claims being made.

Gary has become King of the 4-4-2 and takes great delight claiming credit for our current brand of beautiful football, but it wasn't always thus.

I would just say, Gaspose, get a life, develop a sense of humour, and use the forum for it's purpose, ie, real fans being ARMCHAIR managers for a BIT OF FUN.

Some fine (but pointless) archive research, as comparing the team 2 or 3 years ago with that of today is a ludicrous arguement. The teams are so different it might as well have been a different decade.

The formation is dictated by the squad and players available, Then the formation best suited was 3-5-2, now it is 4-4-2.

 

As for your risable statement " give lie to the grandiose claims being made". This is an internet fans football forum FFS, comments like this are discussed on every football forum in the world, and with the exception of MYFC, are just a bit of fun with tongue in cheek. If you don't see that then Gawd help anybody who has to live or work with somebody so serious and so apparently devoid of humour.

The tone of your piece is well aimed... I can well understand your anger and frustration at someone raking over the forum to find a post of yours from years ago that clearly states that you wanted Gooding and Watkins to play at the back...

(For all the p***taking, I'd've agreed with the 3-5-2 formation at the time, if not the (ahem) selection...still reckon we should play 3-5-2 at home games nowadays though...)

Is Holloway fit again? If so, get rid of Cronin, stick Craig back in goal. I think Protheroe and Long could work well together and Watkins towers over Opinel. Maybe put Ricketts in for Gooding and I'd go with that little lot for Northwich on Saturday.

Whoah, easy Gary. Why is it that your posts can be meant tongue in cheek and mine can't?

My post was meant as a gentle dig and was in response to your earlier post claiming credit for current form (I know that you were joking, surely we can joke back). I am not so stupid as to think that you actually believe that you have influenced Liam's line-up or tactics. Up until now none of us has had that ability and I would prefer it if we never did.

Unfortuantely I cannot type in a sarcastic tone, you have obviously interpreted what I said as a personal slight for which I apologise.

Those who know me will know whether or not I have a sense of humour or if I am just a serious prat, maybe the answer to that explains my lonely existence and lack of friends, I don't know. Maybe that is why I still live with my mum and she is continually leaving packed suitcases on the front door when I get home from work.

And as to the time all this has taken, I am waiting for long winded processes to run leaving me free to twiddle my thumbs and try to look busy - I find that the constant tap of the keyboard makes people believe I am doing some work.

I hope that you can see that I was not seriously having a pop at you (not that I suppose you'd care too much) as your posts make me laugh more than most. If not, c'est la vie

Seeing my old "team" made me realise just how poor we were at the back then. 5 left backs we had, wasn't it?

Times have moved on, and the team has improved immeasurably.

Compare what with had then with the likes of Sacha, Macca, Smudger and Ricketts?
