Arbour Vale Plans & Slough Cemetary/Crematorium

Being a resident of Stoke Road, I am curious of the Arbour Vale plans.

Given that the Slough Cemetary and Crematorium are very close by, I am not 100% convinced that this will work out.

Can you imagine football fans on Stoke Road making the noise they should(!) with the deceased and the grieving driving past such a location?! There are plenty of funerals/cremations taking place on weekends and I would not want to drive past a racket.

I just hope they find another exit/entrance to the proposed stadium other than Stoke Road. I for one, will object to the plans otherwise.

Hello, You have to remember the level we play at (quite low at present!) and if we get a new stadium at Arbour Vale, the crowds will still only be around 400 at this level and I really doubt our fans would be singing, chanting and being loud walking down Stoke Road. Plus the stadium is planned to be set way back from the road, so any noise from the stadium should not be a problem at all. Hope that eases your worries a little. Glen.

Thanks Glen.

We all want a home for Slough Town FC even people like me who never go to a game but love football.

I just hope the architects or whoever put this concern right at the top otherwise people will be on your backs right from the off.

Sorry if I seem like one of the people who just road-block!

It's a very fair point and I think the need for respect is essential. I hope that all concerns are addressed quickly, after all the last thing the club wants to do is upset or annoy the locals.

I agree with Glen, I can't see noise being an issue, certainly not in the lower levels of non-league anyway.

having gone to school at the site when it was known as the notorious orchard county secondary school with several hundred teenage school kids attending i don't think your fears will be realised much as the cheering that we do it will not even drown out the noise of the local traffic, let alone disturb the reverent rest of slough,s deceased or of their greiving relatives, as to the crematoriumi cannot see how that is going to be distubed as that is nearly half a mile away so i think thatyour fears can be allayed

Flumpy, you have made some fair points, God knows what King Tut's problem is?

I personally think that with the stadium being set back some diatcne form the road that noise wouldn't be a problem. Remember also that the club only plays around 21 home games a season over 9 months, and a few of these will be midweek so I really don't think it would be too bad.

I am sure everything will be ok, regarding noise , as glenn stated the ground will be well set back and my mum and dad who are in the cremeturium will be chanting for the rebels..

a fair point and the club needs to be concerned and to hear everyones point...

cheers chris sliski

From SBC website.

"The chapel can be booked at half hourly intervals for both cremation and burial services: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm, Saturdays 9:00am to 12:30pm. We operate a 24 hr a day, 7 days a week cremation and burial service at the discretion of the Registrar.

Burials can be booked at quarter to and quarter past the hour. No funerals are held on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday."

I don't think that the quote totally clarifies the crematorium's hours, but at least Saturday afternoons do not seem to be a standard time for cremations.

I was trying to find that information as I am sure when we were looking at the allotment site it was mentioned about the crematorium stopping at 12 on Saturday. Obviously this covers any concerns on that front as our matches would take place when the crematorium is not operating.

as mr flummpy likes football but never goes to a game , it would be a nice for the club to invite him up to see for himself (never no he might join!)

I know that some of the local residents aren't happy about the plans either, the person who cuts my hair lives in one of the local roads next to the school and was not happy when i told her of the result of the cabinet meeting last week.

Obviously we cannot please everyone but its good to see that some people are pleased for us!!

Obviously some people aren't going to be happy but let's be honest here, something's going to go on that site eventually. If it wasn't the stadium development with the housing, it would be something else that the locals might not fancy.

Therefore it's important to get as many people behind us as possible and reassure them that the development won't adversely affect their lives (which I'm sure it won't)

Lets remember that Stag Meadow is literally next to a graveyard.

Hey, the locals of the Chicken Run might be offended at its being called a graveyard, just because they can be a bit quiet during matches... wink

To be fair, the cemetery contains excellent neighbours who seem most unconcerned about noise or disruption.

The football club will be well away from the cremitorium , I think the aircraft will continue to make the most noise ...

please don't make this an issue, the club will be situated about 1000 meters away ....surrounded by houses and and a road , plus trees.... well well away ...

im dont feel it will be an issue once the public sees the plans,as someone else pointed out on here about the old orchard secondary school there in the seventies, a lot of noise then it was quite a notorious school at the time, i remember walking down the stoke road on my first day and this sikh boy having his turban ripped off his head and regular fighting, thing of the past now thankfully.

it is really a nice site i think peoples general perception is that the stadium will be near the road but as people have said it is going to be on the big field a long way away,if you want to see grounds close to residential look at burnham that is close but seems ok. leaflets are a must all along the way i think.
