Standen sacked

Lets not quibble guys - we have lost a great player even if he was a hot-head. I wasn't at the game so cannot speak of the incident but from what I have seen written on here, unless the club have had written statements and eye-witness statements from fans, players etc then the sacking could possibly be seen as unlawful perhaps???

We know Dean's had problems with his on-pitch confrontations and we've all moaned and groaned when the red card has been shown (yes, too many times) but cast your mind back to Eric Cantona at Selhurst Park many moons ago..... Man Utd could have sacked him, but his retention was the one thing that spurred the club on to more titles, cups etc. He is one player, IMO, that we needed for the play-off push and now I feel we may have difficulties. Again, I know one player does not a team make, but certain players help to 'gel' the team together and make them play better.

Anyway, best of luck to you Dean but please don't sign for Ramshite!!!!

Did perry99 not say Dean left through the sidegate??

Dean was wrong in the way he went about things, although i feel the club have made this decision too quickly!!!

I also hope that they did not make their desicion based on his previous records as this is a totally differant incident.

That is my point Tony I believe the club could have made a rod for their own back especially if Dean has not been given the chance to give his side of things and what Perry has wriiten on forum.

i think it is very harsh getting red of one of our best player. dean was a very inportant player for this season i dont know why the fan got involed we won the match 3-1. there was no need to have a argument with the dean i thought he played well in the match. i belive know that we need to sighn a centre midfealder quickley. also i think it is a huge dent in our play off hopes. because dean was a massive player for us this season.

GOOD LUCK DEANO.

Did I say it wasnt a rumour?. Its immaterial which way he left the field. He left the field of play to remonstrate with a fan.
All players are still able to recieve a red card whilst they are still within the grounds of the said match even AFTER the final whistle. This incident I believe happened almost immediately after the final whistle did it not?
I'm also sure that any decision made by the club on this matter will not have been made without certain facts but the one fact that I keep on about is Deans departure from the field of play to remonstrate with a fan. That alone is enough for them to make a decision I would have thought.

It looks like we are going to have to agree to disagree on this but at the end of the day Dean Standen has no-one to blame for his exit other than himself. No amount of excuses will deter from that fact no matter how well intended they might be.
I would be saying this about ANY player & not because its Dean Standen.Lets make that absolutely clear here.
Anyway,I've said what I have to say on this matter & I would rather now concentrate on the game tomorrow.Whats done is done.

Well looking at other fans comments Tony I think quite a few others would disagree too. But hey thats what forums are about. I am more worried the club have done something too quickly and may suffer for it in the future.

You kind of expect it as a player from the opposing support but it really hurts coming from you own support who you are breacking a bollock to win for. We should be cutting this crap from the crowd and make it more of a family atmosphere.

100% in agreement Tony. The club say they will act but as far as I am aware have done nothing about the verbal attack on Trotty after the Angels game by two so called fans which would have been witnessed by both sets of fans.

As Deano must have been told by letter yesterday at the latest, they must have acted a lot sooner than that Ryan, am totally amazed about this at the moment I must say.

I agree, I think a rash decision has been made with emotions riding high. In these cases people need to draw breath, work out the evidence and make a considered decision. Even the chairman's words seem to suggest panic set in and they felt they had to show something to the public. Shame that the paper was chosen rather than the official website (but that's a different story).

Yeh i dont think that we should start slagging the board off as they have done a super job at just keeping this club going through such a dark period.

Still nothing official yet on website as you say buzzgate.

Does that possibly mean that this in fact has not happened?

If thats the case it was a very convincing article in the gazette. lol

I am the first to agree with the board doing a great job Ryan especially since Terry has come on board things have improved. However on this one I still believe they may live to regret taking such a decision so quickly. Surely a suspension until all the facts were gathered including Dean was the better option.
