Trust

How glad am I that I have kept my money in my pocket and not squandered it by putting it into the bottomless pit of the club and the little brother of "Northan Rock" that is known as the Trust.

My money is in my pocket, in my control, and will be used when I see fit to use it!!!

So wot's the difference in giving the club £32 and only £10 to join the trust when were doing the same thing

Epicrebel - I see fit to use my money now - or would you prefer that it did stay in my pocket?

With the trust I have no direct control of it, as the board can pass on up to £2000 without the consent of the majority of members, however if the sum is over £2000 then the members get a say at an EGM.

By the way, how much do you put in each week?

Just asking but wot control have you,

The £20 goes to the club to do as they wish, as does the gate money.

As you said you can vote were the trust money goes and the board don't give it away without good reason.

Question: How long have you been supporting the club ( This is NOT a go at you)

The control I have is I can stop my contributions at any stage - i.e. tommorrow.

If I were a member of the trust I can only influance the decision making at the end of the season by voting off a current board member (and in the case of someone elected last year I would have to wait till next year to change them - only every two years for each board member) or at an EGM - thats not a go at the trust, just the facts of the members voting system.

One of the issues that I was also trying to raise, is that of the money which I part with I am not expecting to see any return on it other than for the success on the pitch and the future of the club.

I was "introduced" to Slough Town FC by my brother in law about 7 years ago having previously had no idear of non-league football and only an intrest in football as an armchair supporter of a premiership team - seeing the vulgar amounts of money being paid to premiership players (1 weeks pay for a player would keep STFC going for a year!!!!) alienated me from that side of the game and fortunately STFC came along.

Same as the trust you can stop contributions at any time, say you fall out with roger (no offence) you can't vote him off. The money side is with the trust money there could be a return ie: like paying the players in the past so they say.

I've been supporting since the dolphin days, I helped build the wexham ground up, was working and playing for the club in the 80's ( for nothing ) and been on the stsa and the trust boards from the start

Mark in regards to the difference between the trusts money and the money to the club here is one example taken from the trusts January news letter "Part of their responsibilities include making decisions about how the Trust’s money can best serve the club. On some occasions, the board makes the decision to donate some of the funds to local charitable causes, such as local youth football teams or the Wexham Park Children’s Accident and Emergency ward." so all the money that goes into the trust does not go to support the club or be available should the club colapse. I am not against the trust supporting other groups but at the momment charity needs to start at home - so to answer you question, yes there is a difference between the trust and the balmy army.

Now a question for you Mark - how much money do you put in each week?

Yes the trust does sponser a youth team but they join the trust and come to the games so money comes in to the club that way. the children's ward money is from the walkers so more money is raised for them and the trust

I'm not having a go, i cant see why you have a go at the trust when both are supporting the club

I am not having a go at the trust I am stating that I want control of my money and that I want 100% of it to go to the club.

So Mark as membership co-ordinator you dont mind other people putting their hands in their pockets, but when it comes to you it appears that you have deep pockets and short arms?

So how much money a week do you put in?

For [****!!****] sake you two shut up, you sound like the old gits in the Muppets.

Anyway, Bernard has now gone, and the new chairman is putting money into the club. Roy has spent countless unpaid hours this season dealing with the planning issues.

I don't think its anyones business how much money each individual gives to the club. It's not a competition. Lots of Trust members give a hell of a lot of time especially on match days, does that count as 'giving' ?

This thread was started on the assumption that the Trust was going to be given £5,000 to the club. Which we have now established isn't happening (not that i can see a problem with Slough Town Supporters Trust, supporting would you believe it, Slough Town Football Club).

Remember - we beat the league leaders on Saturday. We've got a new active chairman and the plans for the ground are looking more than promising. Can we celebrate that instead of this [****!!****]?

For the club to run it needs around £100,000 a year, that is about £500 for each of the 200 or so who turn up.

It is welcome news to see a new chairman, and I hope he is as good as his words, however in the words of Chris S "the club is the fans club" that means we all need to do our bit, I hope this thread has made people think about how they support the club materially, and what contribution they can make to ensuring the club survives and unfortunately that needs money not good intentions.

I hope this thread has not offended anyone especially Epicrebel, but through the replys we have seen how delicate the issue of money can be - but without money we are doomed.

Now to make sure we stay up and solvent!
