100,000

Does anyone else think that figure might be slightly unrealistic?

For anyone who didn't see it, its HERE . MyFC want this many members by the end of 2008. Am sure a Wembley final and/or promotion would make a huge difference to the membership, but without those, 100,000?

But - it would also mean over 2.5 million squids for Fleet should it happen!

I gather Eurostar are threatening to leave their passengers in Calais unless they sign up, so 100,000 should be feasible by about November I reckon!

They could be really cruel and dump them in Brussels - that would sonn have em signing up!

It would be a tremendous achievement if they where to get 100,000 members, sadly that doesn't look likely.
Despite the talk of 50,000 members signing up to the idea when the deal was first brokered and despite the amount of publicity generated it looks unlikely that membership will reach 30,000 this season.
Renewal date will be 19.2.2008 and I can potentially see an awful lot of members playing renewal chicken.
MyFC have stated that they need 15,000 members to continue so it is easy to envisage a lot of members not signing up until the 15,000 mark has een passed, which would of course ensure that the renewals won't get anywhere near 15,000.
Exit strategy anyone?

You believe that MyFC won´t get 15K members in year two Slarti?

To me that seems like a pretty unlikely scenario.

There were approximately 28400 members prior the formal takeover.

It is a little bit more complex issue as well when thinking about it.

During the year..there will be new members signing on.I think MyFC will have at least 35K members February 18 2009.That is an average of under 18 new signings per day first year.I think that is very acchievable.

How to deal with the membership fees that comes in during the first year is still to be decided upon I recon.I think they will be periodisation of those.

Anyhow, there will soon be over 2K members that allready has extended their memberships. That leaves only 13K more to sign up for or in year two.

With new members signing up in this year also..the membership totals not reaching 15K seems highly unlikely to me...for the reasons stated.

Hmm,that was really bad text in my last post.

2K members have allready extended their memberships(I think the actual number is 1911 as we speak,so I think one can assume that 2K will be reached soon).

That leaves 13K to reach the magic number of 15K for year two.

I think MyFC will reach 35K membership totals during year one(MyFC year one..from 19 February 08 til 18 February 09).

That means 13K out of 33K will have to renew..or less than 40%.

Surely that is likely to happen?

Add to that that brand new members will sign up for the first time in year two..so to speak..and the renewal rate actually can be somewhat lower than 40%.

So a full-page begging letter (which is what the Eurostar ad effectively was) published in newspapers with a combined readership of over 4 million has netted... less than 400 new subscribers. Oh dear. That's a take-up rate of less than 0.01%. Conculsive evidence were it needed that the supply of idiots who can be tempted by the MyFC model has all but dried up. Factor in that the less than 30,000 who have joined so far have done so not overnight but over a period of several months (even though those memberships only formally began yesterday). Factor in also that half of those members seem to have lost interest within seconds of handing over their money - how many of the 15,000 who haven't bothered to vote (not even about the takeover in the first place) do you imagine will renew for further years? Clue: The closer to zero your estimate the more likely it is to be correct.

The fact is there are at this stage roughly 2,000 members who have commited to a second year, and a maximum of 13,000 others who may do depending on how much they gain or lose interest in the whole crazy scheme over the next twelve months.

A sensible estimate of MyFC second year membership (particularly given that promotion is looking increasingly unlikely this season - Blue Square have the odds at 16-1) is 5,000 to 10,000, which is almost certainly not financial viable.

All the evidence points to the MyFC 'experiment' only lasting for one year. Instead of coming up with bullish nonsense about attracting 100,000 members (the disinterested response to the newpaper begging ad shows that will NEVER happen) all parties concerned - MyFC, MyFC members, EUFC, EUFC fans - need to accept it's a one year thing and start thinking in advance about the best way to manage the transition to whatever form of ownership will follow MyFC's withdrawal next spring.

Forgetting percentages and predictions etc... and lets just use rough numbers. Approx 28,000 paid-up members, how many participate in the real big vote issue?

Half-ish.

Admittedly, things MIGHT improve when ye call fulfil the second half of the 'own the club, pick the pick' mantra - but its a worry so that little interest has been shown already.

Not sure how you expect to almost double the membership in a year, surely the initial launch would have got you the most publicity? Like I initially mentioned - promotion or a Wembley final is probably the only way to focus attention back to MyFC.

Or, if proved wrong, will you have the balls to come on here & admit it.

Doubt it, but, whatever, if the membership renewal clears 20,000, if you can't do the grown up thing, please don't come back with more bogus b*llocks statistics, just do the sex & travel bit, as suggested by Stu.

steady boys..he has as much right to be here as the rest of us and you can't blame him for that....he didn't instigate mooniemania and he didn't choose ebbs...

I know its aggravating having your club forum invaded but perhaps you should take the view that the posts from outsiders serve to make others stop and think..

I am not here to wind you lot up...I am here to preach caution and get to the bottom of a deal that doesn't stack up other than for minority personal gain......

strikes me that others are trying to do the same in their own way...don't bully them off the forums...

If more than 20,000 MyFC members renew their membership on or before the renewal date (19th Feb 09, presumably) I will attend the next Saturday game at Stonebridge Road after that date wearing nothing but a cardboard dunce's hat. OK?

Fecking hell, steady on! It will be early February! If the weather's anything like what we're currently getting, you won't need a very big hat to cover your modesty/pride & joy.
