If you have seen some or all of them then you get the right to compare them - then chose to call him great.

I've seen him play twice in person/in the flesh and two or three times on setanta, and in my opinion he his a great keeper

You have me there, Les. Cannot recall seeing Heathcote - I only started going in 1967, aged 10, my first (and still vivid) memory was watching us lose 0-6 against Ramsgate on a foggy Oct/November Tuesday night.

They are the one player, over perhaps the last 45 years where we have excelled. I forgot Jamie Ashdown, although his appearances were limited.
But at least 4 or 5 have been of football league standard, together with Luke McShane, Scott Tynan and Lance.

I have watched all of the arguments that have raged on this board for the past few weeks.

Most of them have made me laugh, particularly the missives fired by UU and AFF, two very funny gentlemen.

However, this argument is the one that makes me angry. I'm afraid that the problem of not being able to compare players with the greats from the past is not confined to MYFCers.

I have been a regular for 4 years, so I cannot compare Lance with many of those mentioned. My son has been coming with me for 3 years and is in a similar boat. My nephew only started coming this year and so has only seen Lance in goal.

Can we call him great?

(As it happens I think that 'great' is pushing it a bit, he is very good, but more prone to errors - particularly kicking errors - to make him 'great')
