Half the MyFC 'members' didn't even join!

53,000 signed up their willingness to pay £35 to join MyFC before the funds were asked for. Several months later, on the day they take over Ebbsfleet United, there are 28,250 members. Those who are worried that only half of members bother to vote should consider that. Only half the ones who said they would pay did in the first place. In fact, as MyFC keep chirping on about how many more people have joined since Ebbsfleet were chosen as the selected club, since due diligence ended, etc, the actual number of the initial 53,000 who paid up will be even less. Maybe as little as a third. And only about 1,800 (15%) of those who did pay have committed to pay subs beyond the first year (which starts today).

ONLY 33% of people who said they'd pay £35 for the first year have done

ONLY FIVE PERCENT of people who said they'd pay £35 for the first year have committed to pay for a second year

Those - not the figures voting - are the worrying statistics, kids. This is looking ever more like a 12 month 'fad'.

Yes, clowntown, I was looking at those figures myself, being a former employee of Ireland's Department of Finance - the equivalent of the UK Treasury. They don't seem to square with MyFC's membership claims when I joined them last November; they had a rolling ticker-tape style membership list back then indicating over 50,000 had already signed up. As you've noted, MyFC are already canvassing existing members for more money through membership extensions; they won't be getting any from me. Their advert in today's papers is also a canvass for more members which (again, as you've indicated) gives rise to some concern that this bubble may burst somewhere down the line shortly as the novelty wears off and a possible clique takes charge and edges out the "common" punters. It'll be an interesting ride - watch this space.

Yeah I hate it when two companies help each other out for mutual benefit. The worst thing is that it may well result in more money being made available for Ebbsfleet United. A true disaster.

^^(saracasm)^^

I am not happy about the whole MYFC thing and what it might do for Ebbsfleet United, but I feel I have to support the good things it may bring.

I would like to finish by thanking clown & derryman for passing their £35 to MYFC. This money is greatly appreciated by me as the club is now debt free and we can afford to extend our players contracts. Thank you very much.

As I've previously stated on a few occasions on these boards, I'd have preferred (with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, of course) to have given my dosh directly to EBFC for a few drinks for real fans. Hand on what passes for a heart with me, I can't honestly see the MyFC business working out long-term. The squabbling has already started on their mbs. Good luck with it but hey, if it were my club I'd already be looking about for a Plan B.

You could always invest another £10 in the Fleet Trust if you want to help real fans, as against your MYFC money which in no way can help real fans ! ( according to you ) . Here is a form for you.

Which they could have used to toast the team going back to part-time and potential relegation. I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Give it a season and even that figure will be lower, especially when those that have been conned into parting with their hard earned cash realise that they own nothing but a share in a website and that their votes will count for nothing!
