ok the reason i am asking is purely because regardless why or indeed if anything happened this does not set a good example for the club and Dean should have just enjoyed the moment of what was a brilliant and deserved victory. Children(including mine) were at the game and as someone else mentioned elsewhere maybe in different context but eric cantona attacked a fan and paid the price, i am not asking for Dean to be banned from the game because i think the boy has talent if he just stopped seeing red(no pun) but regardless of whether its verbal or physical HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER, christ we only pay £9 to watch he gets paid many times that amount to be watched AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE LEFT THE FIELD OF PLAY UNTIL HE WAS CHANGED FROM THE COLOURS HE PLAYS FOR. Many players have to listen to insults and abuse we are all guilty of it at times (ok maybe not all) but i include myself in that but the players all know what is proffessional and what isnt. I say again whatever it was that happened and i kinda know from speaking to fan who was standing next to said fan what happened IT WAS UNNACCEPTABLE!!

thats it i said my piece DELETE IF YOU WISH!!

No I won't Jon because believe it or not I understand what you are saying. I only deleted previously as I (myself not club) thought it was best too until the club sorted the matter out. Now it is in the paper I have no problems like your post.

I did speak to Deano after the game and he says he has no problems if a fan doesnt like him as we do after all pay his wages and he would chat to them in the bar after the game. He took exception to what this "fan" was shouting out throughout the game as there was lots of young kids about.

Anyway looks like the club will investigate the matter properly so that is a good thing IMO.

I was standing near Deano when he came over to the pitchside at the end and in his defence he was annoyed but he spoke in a grown up manor and kindly asked who was shouting at him . A fan owned up and in Deano`s defence he did go through the gate afterwards not over it .

It's a shame that all this is detracting from what was a marvellous win for the blues, and a great performance from them.

I saw Deano talking to someone, don't know who. He did not look as he had lost his rag, just rather earnest. He walked to the gate at the corner and went through it, then shortly afterwards came back.

My take is what happened after that is his business not mine, I was more concerned with applauding the team. If someone had been barracking him, or said anything objectionable then shame on them. I cannot undertand why some people think that because it is football they can shed all sense of decency towards a fellow human being and use the excuse of 'banter' to excuse what is to me unacceptable and grossly rude behaviour.

The pity is that this will have made someone whose life's work seems to be stirring and causing trouble and upset very happy.

I must say i was very surprized to see this as a major sco0p on the back of the Thanet Times today on our day out to Broadstairs.

I was very near it all and thought Deano had come over to thank someone for encouragement etc. but wwhen i saw Steve's(not his real name)get very flushed in the face i realized it was in fact the opposite. Steve said the abuser was really over the top, vile in fact. Then the abuser said it was him. You know the rest.

Dean has a very short fuse. Too short if he wants to progress. WE indeed do pay our £9 quid and i have to say i indorse Jon's and June's worthy comments. If the abuse was as bad as Steve said a steward could have knocked it on the head. It was not a large crowd even at the home end.

Also, i deplore the way people rushed off to see agro. At least 50 or so. Very disappointing. Fortunately Maca ran over pretty quick. Dean actually had a good second half popping a great corner over for Robbo to head goalwards.

I am sure Robin will sort it out and it's a pity it got in the paper. The performance was excellent from the team and got my half term off to a great start.

Well said the last 3 posters. Agree with Geoff in the fact that loads of fans rushed over but I guess thats life these days but not needed IMO. Maybe we should have a zero tolerance at the ground like Tonbridge have?

Zero tolerance for what? I don't see any problems. Fans will show passion and if you start overly clamping down on that then people will find other things to do on a Saturday afternoon. Cordery offered one of our fans out for a fight at Staines in the game in September so was bound to come in for some stick when he started waving his arms from the dugout again. Another from the Ward school of bullying officials as far as I'm concerned.

The bloke who abused Standen, on the other hand.. I didn't hear any of what he was saying so I can't comment. Thought Dean had a decent game anyway.

I think you will find that some of the fans would have been rushing over to help stop any problems (remember when some fans helped the stewards eject some opposing fans (possibly Chelmsford) a couple of season back) and not just to watch the trouble.

Steve
