RULE 8.4 In the event of a match having to be postponed for any reason due to problems arising from one of the clubs involved, their prospective opponents SHALL BE COMPENSATED BY THEM.In the case of the visiting club, should it have undertaken all or part of the journey, travelling expenses and meal allowances may be claimed, based on the total mileage involved on the whole journey.

I feel very disappointed that Stansted let us go all the way to their ground when they must have been aware that there was a possibility that the pitch was unplayable.

As soon as we looked at the pitch it was clear there was a problem down one side - it was completely frozen and as sharp as my Swarosky chrystalware. When the referee arrived he took one look at the pitch, tried to get his keys into the ground and failed and said the pitch was too dangerous.

Surely this must have been the case earlier, why hadn't they had a pitch inspection - latest 12 o-clock and warned us that there was a problem. Were they keeping their fingers crossed and hoping there would be a sudden thaw..... Offering to pour hot water over the pitch was hardly likely to make any difference.

Can we ask Stansted why they did nothing all morning and were quite happy for everyone to travel needlessly to their ground?

Sorry but we aren't round the corner.... frown
Sure someone must take the blame for this "disappointment" otherwise everybody is gonna do like that and it will be the beginning of the end!! smile

This sort of thing happens at higher levels. On Saturday Doncaster Rovers were due to host Leeds United. It seems that the police insisted this be a noon ko for reasons we can deduce. Someone acting for the Stadium management company decided not to cover part of the pitch overnight.

This omission seems to have been made on the strength of (a)the belief that the cover would have been no protection against the severity of the frost predicted and (B) the uncovered bit would have thawed out by 3pm..... unhelpfully overlooking the need for a noon kick off......

Compare and contrast what the 2 websites have to say about it. This situation did not cause Leeds United much grief but it did for their supporters some of whom travel long distances

Natter, with all due respect for everyone,we don't care about £££ professional clubs. The earlier pitch inspection at 12 o'clock might be? should have spotted such a big frozen area like that and at 11-12 o'clock is supposed to be colder than 1-1.30 pm.The referee that has allegedly made the earlier pitch inspection should be put against a wall in front of a firing squad(only joking attentat). We are not talking about a 2 yards touchline area but a bigger, grass missing area that could have only been in worse conditions at the time of the allegedly early pitch inspection. Now everyone will try to juggle responsibility with Stansted blaming the referee early pitch inspection verdict and the referees appointment secretary saying that everything was fine with the pitch inspection. Not impressed at all chaps smile
