Fleet on Saturday

Recommended Posts

After the 4-1 thumping we took off Fleet in the FA cup at home at the begining of the season, will we be able to keep their score to single figures as a result of our current form or will it be a Farnborough performance?

Fleet need a win to maintain there promotion push and stay at the top of the pile, whilst we continue to flounder due to the total non-achievment of our on paper "good team"!

What formation will we be playing and who will be playing in which position, how many new players will there be and how many will have moved on? All questions that make watching Slough Town FC "intresting".

Oh I forgot "what happens on the pitch this season does not matter".

i agree on paper we have a good team which should more than hold their place in this league, i think it has to be a question of tactics and how we plan for games, and our failiure to understand that the southern league is different from the ryman, people talk about this league being a very physical league, i have been to a fair number of southern league games over the years and our style of play just doesnt suit this league, our idea is right to play an attractive attacking style of football which is very entertaining but a 3-5-2 is the sort of formation that can get punished time and time again, whats wrong with the dependable 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1 if it is part a game plan to get the result/s we need, many teams in the southern league seem to understand the need for patient work hard play that sometimes gets you a 0-0 draw or sneaking a 1-0 win in the 90th min.it makes it very difficult now, as you have said in a previous post changes to management should have been made earlier and imo no disrespect to betts someone should have been brought in with southern league experience with maybe one or two asst man so they could learn from him.
whatever happens on saturday we need to watch fleet they have at times a dreadfull attitude even worse than uxbridge, this was witnessed at windsor a few weeks ago with a mass brawl, this is not uncommon unless they have changed as many teams have complained about them.

okay could people please stop saying that we have a good team 'on paper'. Football matches are decided on pitches consisting generally of grass and turf and not paper, and the results of those matches that Slough have played in when converted into League points means that we actually are the 20th best team in the League.
