Hotel and Coach Cash Appeal for The Team , Burton

A Couple of weeks ago, an myfc member proposed the idea of trying to raise cash to provide the team with a good hotel stay before important games.

An appeal has now been set up with the aim to raise £2,500 to pay for the coach travel to the game and a night stay at the Best Western.

With the business end of the season now in full swing it feels like the players are always on the road. Ebbsfleet played Crawley Town last night followed by a swift road trip down the A303 to Torquay for a promotion battle tomorrow. The following week to Burton for the Quarter Finals of the FA Trophy. The games are coming thick and fast for the boys.

For each Away game a coach is provided to transport the team to the ground and back again. The coach is a necessary expense and it needs to be suffcient for the team to arrive relaxed and prepared to games.

The Crawley Town and Torquay games, because of the congested fixture list, made it crucial that the players had to stay over in Crawley to minimise the travel time between games. This again is not cheap to put the players up for 2 nights. (one night in Crawley then one night in Taunton)

It was suggested by nicol208 (and highly rated by you, the members) that we should try and raise cash to enable the players to stay over in a hotel on long away games. The article can be read here http://members.myfootballclub.co.uk//article-19201

Taking this in to consideration and also the huge importance of Saturdays FA Trophy Quarter Finals against Burton we have been in contact with Best Western Hotels and also King Fisher coaches who have given us a quote of approx £2500 to get the team to the game and back and to stay the night in their hotel prior to the game.

We have set up a donations page here where we would hope that the members can donate cash to pay for this cost of hotel and coach. This is similar to the way we raised the money to pay for the Goalposts and Balls in December.

You might want to check to ensure that this doesn't breach the terms of our agreement/contract with Kings Ferry

That should buy a few Currys......how about you set up HQ in The Kingfisher.....that should get a few of the locals in ! ( I might even pop in myself !!)

Then you could have another whip round to buy my shares !!....on your way to world domination, or maybe just 100% ownership of the club.

You can catch one of the Thandi coaches from a bit further up Windmill Street....they seem to go up north, well, to Leicester & Coventry anyway......something to keep up your sleeve ?

Cheers,

A fool and his money they say.

However, if it gets the team to Burton and puts them up the night before, then this can only be a good thing.

Am thinking of starting a thread up asking if they can raise money for my Yorkshire pi$$ up weekenders with a Fleet match in the middle of them.

This is a good appeal. there slots of travel at the moment and Burton can be a poxy journey. With a few players having to come from the South Coast to catch a coach and then obviousley leave in sufficent time to get to the ground at burton, an overnighter can be nothing but good to them.

I hope that his game sees 200 - 300 away followers be they regulars or newbies. It will only add to the atmosphere and I know the lads are really on the up away from home.

Tomorrow will be another big test and just as a supporter its going to be a long day.

In all seriousness now, will these "appeals" be a regular thing ?

or will this be an automatic procedure for future long away trips i.e. team travel up ( or down) the previous day and stay over ? ..funded by the new regime as a matter of course rather than by way of appeal/whip round ?

Just a question......that's all.

Hirsty, It was just an idea that the member had a couple of weeks ago. By a very strange coincidance, I sent in an article on the very same subject, same day. It was just after the Weymouth cup match. If you wish, I can copy it here later.

I dont think collections like this can be a regular thing. However, I think the subject is now in the open and maybe more overnight stays can be built into financial plans in the years to come. I dont want to lose to Burton, but if they play better than us, so be it. The point of my article was that it would be hard to take if the team was beaten after taking the field in a very important cup tie, half tired after a horrible coach journey.
