The Club Bar, Can it be a G & N History Bar ?

There was some discussion on here a while back on the idea of making the Club Bar into an area that has lots of G & N memorabilia in it. If the subject was seriously considered in the future, it would be good if there was an rough plan in place about what people would and wouldn’t like in it.

Could people post what they would like in it ?, What stuff might be about that could be used ?, old shirts that could be framed ?

What about the bar itself ?, How could it be improved ? , Is any food available pre and after games ?, would you like some ?, pies, rolls, what ?

The Beer etc. What brands are there at present, should others be offered ?

Enough TV’s ?

Opening hours. Is it just open at game time now ?. Could it be open more ?, would you use it away from match time ?

It was said to me that when thinking about what/if anything is done, to bare in mind we might be moving to a new ground ? I suppose the memorabilia can easily move with us.

If you were designing a G & N themed bar/club house from scratch, how would you plan it ?

I admire your enthusiasm.....however, not being in the list of the top 20 richest clubs recently published, surely you ( or is that we ?) have to provide whats sells & makes money ? Or is the new bar/clubhouse to be called Utopia ?

Now that you are one the chosen many, why not get into the Boardroom bar, that's where all the "memorabelia" is. But please do not forget the plaques that are currently in the bar remembering fans who are no longer with us.

You ( or we ) may also want to consider maximising revenue from away supporters....vis getting them to buy beers in the ground rather than in the local pubs !

As for me, I'll just continue to wade through the 3 inches of piss on the way out !!.....

Cheers,

To drag this back to where it started...

The bar is shockingly small. I know its always going to be difficult trying to serve huge amounts of people in such a short time frame as half-time, but there needs to be more places apart from the serving area where pints can be rested - this would encourage those who have been served to make room for the thirsty ones!

Maybe 'high' tables would do? The ones ya stand around, as these would take up less space and could accomodate more people than the sit-down variety? Of course, keep some sit-down tables - but well away from the crowded bar area.

The interior is very "scout hall".. is it kept neutral to maximise its appeal for functions? And please - can the tv screens be bigger? My eyes aint what they used to be, and am squinting to focus on the scores!
Maybe, when MyFC start streaming games, it would be possible to have the screens showing previous games BEFORE that days match? This would encourage fans to turn up early, maybe to see the away game they missed? And if you want fans their early, need to feed and water them with decent food!

I think you really need a good turnover of real ale to make it viable to have on draft. If the bar is only open say once a fortnight, then whatever is not sold at a game may go a bit manky ( technical term !). Maybe it will work out ok with our new super duper vastly increased attendances courtesy of our new masters ?

Agree about the little tellys......doesn't cater for the older eyes, unless I stand about 6 inches away from it, then everyone else cops the right raving.....!

Cheers,

I went to a couple of video Beambacks , as they called them at Leics City. One was a cup game at Charlton when the ticket allocation had been sold out. Can be a great afternoon out as they sold simple food for the day like hot pork rolls, and they had a bar open. Several hundred there, very civilised.

Do you think good bar food would sell ?. Not a menu, just a few selcted things like rolls, hot sausage rolls sort of thing ?

It's just that neither of these are on draft.

Yes, sorry I knew that, have drunk some there. Still brain-dead after last night's excesses.

Would be good to see some other local(ish) beers on draft, like Hopdaemon Incubus, Gadds Storm Warning or something from Goachers...

The only really Local Beer left seems to be Shrimpers, last seen in the Troc a good few years ago.

The problem is, as someone said earlier is that the bar isn't open often enough for draft real ales which do have a limited shelf life.

Perhaps we should stop selling Strongbow to increase the sales of bitter smile

Depends what barrel size they come in. A firkin (insert smutty joke here...) at 9 gallons might be ok - Selling 72 pints on a match day might be a challenge, but we could all work at it smile

Agree totally about maximising revenue from away supporters, as I have said before, better food hut, more choice etc, would be a good start. Are they a franchise, or privately run does anyone know ? The catering that is.

I nearly got some chips for £2 at the refreshment stall near the main stand at half time of the Weymouth Trophy match. Sadly, I was informed that the fryer was not on as if it was, it would do terrible things to the Electric system of the area.
