Spare a thought

for our friends from Aylesbury. I reproduce this post from the Ryman League Fans message board as their version of events on Saturday:

Thought I'd come on here and vent my spleen after today's result, it'll do me the world of good.

It also helps that you see our side of the story, because you certainly won't see it in the NLP tomorrow because a) they hate us, and B) they'll be so far up Shaun Teale's [****!!****] they'll be coming out his throat. And yes I know it'll sound like sour grapes, but I feel I'm perfectly entitled to have them after today's events.

We were robbed. By a referee (and to some extent his linesmen) who was either the most incompentant I have ever seen, or was on the take.

He'd been [censored] all game, had given them everything and us nothing. Even when they took out one of our players who was so injured he had to be subbed, he accused him of diving. There were plenty more examples, but I'm too pissed off to recall them at the moment. However, despite this it remained 0-0 to the end.

But his coup de grace was to come. In the 93rd minute he awards them a penalty for a dive. Not just any dive, but the most blatant attempt to win a pen you have ever seen - there wasn't even a challenge going in on Peter Wright when he went down. (Cords phoned us on the coach to say he'd seen the video evidence from Sky's cameras and it wasn't even close to a foul). All our players remonstrated with him, forcing him to run back to the halfway line. They carried on so much, he sent off one and booked another. Meanwhile the Burscough players are celebrating so much you'd think they'd already won the Trophy.

Five minutes later, Teale finally steps up to take the penalty and scores. In the remaining two minutes of injury time, we come close to scoring when Maskell is clean through at about the penalty spot only to be flagged offside. But there's a Burscough player on the six yard line playing him on. No matter, he's given offside regardless.

Final whistle and all our players surround the ref once more, including subs, manager, physio and even a director. He virtually has to fight his way back to the dressing room. No doubt we will be fined for lack of discipline, but the ref will get away scot free.

I only hope Sky show their footage of the end of the game at the Trophy final because we were right by their microphones singing "1-0 to the referee" and other slightly ruder things.

To make it worse, the Burscough players, instead of celebrating with their own fans, decide to show great sensitivity and celebrate directly in front of us, flicking V-signs, kissing their badges etc. just to try and provoke us into a reaction (which thankfully there wasn't). [ends]

Could this be another Ref we'll see in the Premiership in a few years time?

The Burscough players were probably celebrating in front of the Aylesbury fans because Burscough hardly have any supporters.

Anyway, where the hell is Burscough?

I saw this ref last Friday when Northampton played Wigan, and he gave the most diabolical penalty decision I have ever seen... When I read NLP this morning I had to laugh, this guy is definitely on the way up...

But to be fair Cobblers deserved to lose against Wigan, and I'm sure The Ducks didn't deserve a result up north, they had 180 minutes and were still level, and even if they had got a result, I couldn't see them beating Tamworth.

Yet if a supporter of an opposing team runs on the pitch at Aylesbury.... Glad to see that Cordery et al are setting the right example. And I love all that- Burscough players giving supporters v-signs etc. I give stick at the game, I admire any player brave(or daft) enough to give some back.

Sour grapes from my Bucks neighbours, roll on Wednesday, I've got my Burscough/Aylesbury chants up and running!
