I got a wrist slap for commenting on the short time frame. Apparently the reasons had been given, I'm just too stupid to find out where - if anyone can help would be appreciated.

The background to the idea was reported by one of the MyFC Forum Team who also posts here...

How do we maximise the take-over announcement on the 19/2 from a marketing perspective?

The article received about thirty comments. I presume (don't know for definite) that Eurostar also discussed the issue with the Club Board members and the WT members. Eurostar then went off and decided their strategy.

They contacted the WT at 2pm today with two scamps for possible adverts (basic designs - the finished product is usually different) and asked the WT if they want to put the options to a members vote. The only proviso was that they needed an answer by 5pm to allow time for the artwork to be prepared so that it would be sure for inclusion in the appropriate media next Tuesday. Also included in the communication were details of the reception next Tuesday.

The WT immediately published the details of the information received from Eurostar on the MyFC site and began emailing all 28,000+ members with the details of the vote. My email was timed at 15.02.

I think Eurostar are to be congratulated for this effort. They could have ignored the entire situation. They could have run with their own plans without informing anyone. Instead they chose to allow the membership of MyFC to vote on the options available (despite serious time constraints they were under).

Similarly the WT could have told Eurostar that they weren't going to put anything to a vote given the previous complaints by a minority of members about deadline difficulties with voting. They chose not to do that.

The publicity that will be generated by this initiative by Eurostar will have a threefold benefit - firstly to Eurostar in terms of publicity - secondly to the club in terms of raising the profile of the club again - thirdly to MyFC in terms of increased sign-ups (which will have the knock-on effect of providing even more finance for the club). It's not often that everyone is a wnner.

In an hour or so, 15% is probably pretty good. I have been less than chuffed with some vote turnouts, but do you need to pick holes in EVERYTHING, AFF...? achso

I pick holes in things I think are wrong. Apart from an input of cash once a year, I don't see anything right in this takeover!

AFF..Considering the financial situation the club found itself in some months back, perhaps getting an amount of cash into the club each year in fact is absolutely essential?

If that is the case, one has to take the bad with the good.

Or perhaps you would have preferred that the club had went back to part time, and the consequenses that would have brought short and longterm?

It is a valid opinion to have if so,don´t get me wrong..but I doesn´t see any other alternative than this.

I remember you said you would change your mind about MyFC in three years time IF this ownership would prove to be good in a majority way..so to speak.

Clock starts ticking February 19 I guess.

Let´s hope you have changed your mind three years from this time then.

For the good of EUFC.

I will stick by what I said , Claudius. I don't think this is right for the club.

I don't think that people who support other clubs, can suddenly become "true" Ebbsfleet supporters overnight, and love the club, the same way those of us who grew up with the Fleet do.

If they can change their allegiance that easily, then they can just as easily change back and walk away, when they either don't get their way, or get bored with the whole thing.

We will(probably) never know if the board considered other options, or just grabbed Myfc's money as quickly as they could.

I've been extremely critical of the votes held so far, but I think it's faintly absurd to criticise this vote (on anything other than content, which was more than a bit dodgy, especially A): first of all it wasn't even a club / MyFC issue, it's a piece of Eurostar marketing so we didn't really have any right to vote on it at all.

Secondly, timescales really are that short in the world of national media and advertising. For example, I got sent a viral ad game at my work this morning to critique, with feedback needed by 2pm, changes to be made by 5pm, in time for it going live tomorrow.

And as for the turnout, given that most members would've been at work at that time and the short turnaround, it was a pretty decent response.

Of course fans don't change their allegiance over night. it would be stupid to suggest that they do. As far as I'm aware there are many out there like myself who hold season tickets for other clubs but are still committed to helping The Fleet in whatever way we can. So far I've been to one home game, am likely to be able to attend one more before the end of the season and two away games. At my one home game, I bought some merchandise, a programme and spent money in the bar and the refreshment stall. Others I know of have less stringent committments to their sides and manage to attend more Fleet games. Many, I know, are unable to attend matches for various reasons. The main impetus must be to increase permanent extra local support on the back of the regeneration of the area, but don't begrudge those of us who wish to support the Club in whatever way we can without claiming to be diehard Fleet fans.

That has always been my thought AFF. However, now I believe that the new MyFc members are supporters but we are fans. If you take that fan is a shortened version of fanatical.

Also the number of members who say they will not purchase a home shirt because they support Spurs, Chelsea etc proves that they are not fans. Love the Fleet, love red.

Thats got to be one of the shocking things I have ever read! No matter how true it is, what would make you want to say it?

Or Green, or Blue, or whatever colour is voted in for the new strip!

Thankfully they're probably stuck in the delightful wonderland that's the Premiership and hopefully one day they might cut themselves adrift and float off into the sunset (probably somewhere in the Sea of Japan!). Me. I can't class myself as a fan but I'm going to get a shirt (preferably one of this seasons before the awful Nike invasion!)

I believe that is why the yellow away is so popular as it is neutral. If red represents Arsenal then Chelsea and Spurs fans won't be seen dead it in it. Admittedly it is a small proportion but it was said to me. But hey you have to respect their views. Would be boring if we all the same.

I shall stick proudly with my Austrain Airlines shirt.

My 10 year old daughter saved a bit of her pocket money for 6 months to buy it for me as a Chrimbo present.

It's very smart, still as new, (apart from a Fleet gristleburger juice stain) and worn with pride.

If MyFC members want to bid for it, they are welcome, but it will cost the price of a new shirt. And then they can pretend they are long standing fans, instead of newbie supporters.
