What a pile of crap that was.

Fair play to the Winchester youngsters playing the drums and joining us for a while - no taunting, just having a laugh.

Another awful performance that again we do not deserve.

 

Lee Riddell does us credit but he is being made to look as bad as the rest by being played in attack. Stick him back in defence or as a defensive midfielder.

 

Our best performances have been when we have played with width. We might not have Mark Janes and Lee Rendell but they doesn't mean we have to change the formation and style of play. I'm sure we have players who can provide this; we could give Tom Attrell a chance.

 

At the moment we could be watching one of Wilko's teams and I wonder how many others of us are like Staines Rebel and starting to question Betts abilities. I fear he is starting to lose the confidence of the fans, it certainly sounded like that behind the goal on Saturday. If a change in fortunes isn't immediate this will get worse and we will be playing Combined Counties next season. I believe Martin is already ordering his dog.

everyone is saying combined counties but the likelihood is that we would be placed in the spartan or hellenic league.
the combined counties probably have the best teams and support and also the least travelling.spartan is bearable but the hellenic would be utterly depressing

The average attendance at Combined Counties games this season is just 66, Hellenic 68 and Spartan 50 odd.
Travelling would be greater in Hellenic but standard not as bad as you might imagine.

Gumbs and Barrett

 

Gumbs was replaced by Abbey Nsubuga, Robinson came on for Hibbs and Landy came on for someone. Rids limped off towards the end of the game.

 

Let's not even think about relegation.

No one has said a word about our manager, since taking over officially he has not won a game and have had 2 of the worst performances I have ever seen. The only answer he seems to have is to get in another player we never have the same team 2 games running.

Cor some people are fickle. Up until 2 games ago Betts and Barnard were awesome, the reason we are in this position is due to the clubs ineptitude during pre-season and giving the previous management the amount of games they had.

 

I think it would have been hard for any manager/coach to get us out of the position we are in given this stage of the season and the funds we have available.

as a far off observer, it seemed when B&B took over the attitude was positive but the results were crap. Now it seems that both the attitude and the results are crap.

Hardly anybody has questioned why David Thomas has left.

 

Does anyone know why?

Apparently Dave Thomas was unhappy about playing out of position particularly at the Bracknell game. The attitude clearly wasn't right so he has gone.

 

Hibbs seemed solid enough to me didn't seem to get forward as much as Robinson but maybe that was done to circumstance.

 

Personally I think the starting XI for Fleet should be something like this:

 

Barney

 

Hibbs, Connor/Daly, Riddell, Harper, Gray

 

Meddie, Laurence Brown, Barrett

 

Davies and Gumbs/Welsh Lad

 

Ideally they will be told that they are first choice and it is their job to keep us up. They are then the first team for the remaining 11 games with any changes coming solely due to injury/suspension or truly shocking individual performance.

I'm not fickle, I have never liked the idea of promoting from within. As we know it as not worked the last two times as it.

In my view our best players are in the middle of the park ( Meddie, Riddell, etc) so why betts seems it fit to play with wing backs causing more congestion in the middle not allowing our best players to play to their full potential i dont know.

 

Fair enough when we had rendell and janes down the wings cause they can run at players and make things happen.

 

Also why try to get crosses in the box to terry and jermaine when they are up against 6 foot defenders, its pointless, get the ball played through the middle and let our strikers do what they can do best, run at the defence and try and open them up.

 

Its not [****!!****] rocket science, do we want to stay up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tbh dave thomas is renowned as an attacking left back who gets down the wing and does cause problems, i dont think its unreasonable to be unhappy playying out and out winger, even though he didnt do badly, we could have kept him in a position he plays best.its definately our loss im afraid.

Not sure I agree with that. I thought he had his best game for Slough playing as an attacking midfielder. An attacking full back is ideally suited to the wing back role which is where he has also been asked to play. If he is not interested in playing for the club then we are better off without him.

you could be right but i thought against afc hayes he was playing very deep and was clearly unhappy, although that day he seemed to be one of the few who were really trying.

I think the problem was against Brook House we played so poorly he had no opportunity to get forward. But to me that shows that he has an attitude problem. He seems more worried about his own individual involvement rather than the requirements of the team.
