A few questions?

Good day everybody!

 

Not been on here for a while, so thought it would be a good time to ask a few questions I, and others have: sensible answers only please?!

 

1) Club legends. Can I nominate a person still involved with the club?

 

2) 500 scheme. Very good idea, will probably join... BUT I want to know what happened to the raffle jackpot prize from last season. Remember pick the envelope? The draw changed all of a sudden to 50/50. No mention as made of the jackpot money that was built up by people buying tickets. What happened to that money, Not sure how much it was.

 

3) Why was the team changed so drastically from Fartbro game to AFC brook House/hayes? Terrible idea, and Riddell, much as I like him, was just a waste of space up front(especially as we had strikers on the bench and somebody dropped for 'discipline'). In fact only Barny and Dave Thomas looked bothered. What happened?! Why the drastic change and where was the effort?

 

4) Great news about the ground so far with the council, will this all happen still though, if we get relegated?

 

5) Slough Legends(again) where or what is the £10 for, and do we get our money back if we all vote for the same person (ie Junior harvey!?). After all, why pay £10 to get your fave player in if he is in already?

 

6) Any truth in the rumour of Josias carbon coming back to us?

 

7) My lucky hat ? Do i finally admit that it is about as lucky as @*&* and /buy a 'normal' one from Sue? Or Keep it, as It might actually be lucky one day?

 

 

Sorry if any of these are old things that have been answered before, and I'm not trying to be political. just after some info which I know several others are after.(and a free hat)

1) Yes, you can nominate me. There is no restriction on who you nominate, although any really daft nominations will be rejected. (i.e. Steve Browne)

 

2) No idea. Quite probably went to paying the players.

 

3) Perhaps the performance on Tuesday took more out of the players than we thought, as Farnborough also appeared to put in a lesser performance on the same day. I know nobody involved with the management of the club was impressed within anything on the pitch on Saturday.

 

4) No reason why not.

 

5) £10 goes to the club. Essentially, it goes directly to the playing budget.

 

6) No formal approaches have been made as yet, although there is a strong possibility he will come back.

 

7) The new hats might not fit over your big head! They are very nice though...

Gary. Thank you. Though I am not sure I am happy with your answer to number two. Not your fault I know, but surely that money didn't belong to the club, but to the supporters who had raised it. I am on the committee at the cippenham legion. We going into voluntary liquidation, and handing back our license to the ~Legion as we are not going to trade anymore. We have been told, that any money we have for jackpots (take your pick, bingo snowball etc etc) through raffles, bingo, etc, is money we HAVE to give back to the punters as it is money they have raised, and is money we have promised to pay out.If (without members permission)we keep it or use it for something else, it COULD be classed as theft

Surely, that money belonged to people who entered the raffle each home game?

As I say, I am not holding you responsible or anything like that, just was narked at the time when the 'envelope' raffle vanished, along with the jackpot.

 

 

Also, forgot that my big fat head is a problem! Doubt if they will fit?!

No worries Doc. Whilst I don't know exactly what happened to it that season, I can only presume that's where it ended up given our money troubles.

 

For the 500 Club, the money is held in a separate account so won't get 'disolved' into the club funds. The Legends money goes directly to the club account.

 

Having tried on one of the hats, it wasn't the most comfortable for me and my big head!

The Legend thing did puzzle me a bit. I didn't think the flyer was particularly clear on the £10 payment. At least now we know that when you get 240 votes for the man the legend that was Ricky Browne that the club are benefiting from each wasted vote.

No worries Gary. Thanks for clearing that and legend thing up.

 

Why is every body so sure Steve and Ricky Browne will get all the votes.

I reckon Junior Harvey, Gary McVeigh, or Maybe, my all time Fave, Noel Imber, will be high amongst the voting.

 

The legend thing is very hard. To me Ben Miles, Paul Wilkerson, Billy Fiore, and Paul Hardyman will always be legends, they stayed and joined the reborn Slough.......but then we have modern Day greats, God (Mark West), Hodgie, Steve Daly (Don't care what prats on here say!!), wilko, Lloyd..from the past...geoff bateman. tony Knight. alan paris etc etc. then we have people like Kevin McGoldrick, dare I even suggest David?!

 

Will there be a list to see who has been nominated? Because It would be a shame if I vote for Brian Lee, then find 15 other people vote for him and then have somebody like Gary McGinnis(greatest ever scotsman to play in England!) to miss out. If I can see if..oh, you know what I mean!

Doc, there will be a list of legends on the site very shortly which will be ordered by the number of nominations they have received. The more legendary will be at the top.

 

In the long run, we aim to get in touch with the legends, so in turn, if anyone has any contact details for any of them, please let us know!
