Pride & Passion but still lack of Supporters ? ord

What a disgrace less than 250 supporters turned up to watch a Billericay team play with pride and passion and come away with a well deserved 2-0 win against Maidenhead.

True supporters will follow there team through the High's and Low's of a season not just walk away that is the easy option and stay at home on a sunny day.

How does it make the players like Jerome John, Russell Penn, Richard Graham, Ollie Adedeji and Jamie Wallace feel who have all been here for the majority of the season playing in front of this crowd size?.

Yes, we all have our own opinions on recent events but players at this level will always come and go. All the players are good friends and when move on keep in contact and will put a good word in at there new club for one of there mates that is life. At the end of the day if you have a player contracted to the season end and wants away it's financial sense to let him go obtain a transfer fee and save money by not paying his wages that's business.

Yesterday's performance was fantastic each one of the team who put the shirt on played with Pride and Passion and this was seen by the fans especially at the final whistle by the players celebrations and was talked about in the bar for several hours after the game.

So come on all those Blues fans who have given up for this season or walked away i urge you to think again as one of the questions recently put to Rod was why are you killing this club I would turn this around and as a supporter who is no longer coming ask yourself this same question.

With 4 games of the season left let's all get behind the team by firstly taking a good support to Ford on Saturday 19th at Home to Canvey on Easter Monday then away to Grays on 26th and finally at home to Hampton on 3rd May.

Following our final game on 3rd May we will be holding the Blues end of Season party and Awards evening in the Club House from the final whistle. We will be looking for a good turn out with support from our Supporters Club Team Athletico Billericay and the Ladies Team who play under the Club name. This event is FREE and the BTSA will be making there award for the Player of the Season voted by you BTSA Members at 6pm in the bar with other awards made later on. So if you cannot make the evening stay for a couple of beers after the game and support your club.

Finally let's all once again get behind Gary's team as we go for the maximum 12 points still available this campaign.

BTSA Chairman

Andy, what happened yesterday is that supporters are now voting with their feet and not comig to the games, this will continue until changes at the club are made, it is now the only way we can express our feelings and vote.

I have a confession to make....

At the start of the season I decided that if the season had descended into mediocrity by feb then I would if not exactly stop going, then certainly cut back dramatically on games attended. Yes, I was planning to be a fair weather fan!

HOWEVER it didn't quite work out like that. When we hit a rough patch (ie 2003) I decided that i wasn't going to walk away, I wasn't going to give up, Nobody was going to call me a quitter. Whether they like it or not BTFC are stuck with me and no matter who's chairman manager or whatever I will be doing my best to support the players who run out onto the pitch in the blue and white.

couldnt get to the game but delighted to see us finally get that elusive win..look fwd to another 3 points against ford.

i disagree with andy about "true fans". i would say that in the last few weeks we are down to our regular support, those who turn up week in week out (err apart from yesterday) regardless of results.

the rest are floating and need to be encouraged to turn up (kids free game v hitchin for example). if i was in this category i,d be less inclined to turn up if i was labelled not a true fan, quitter etc etc.

i would rather have 250 loyal every week and another 250 once a month for the big game than not have the floating support at all.

if you were in the latter group and all you read and heard about was no money, no players, no wins, no true fans how likely would you be to turn up. in my opinion the reasons for the low attendances are as clear as day.

lets hope we get a good following from the whole support base for our last few games.

Your passion and commitment is not questioned , i wish Mr Moore could read your comments as i'm sure it would kick him up the backside.I was one who stayed away yesterday and i'm not ashamed to say so .I was at the Canvey game on Tuesday and sorry but i was embarrsed by our perrformance ,with all ue respect to most of the guys who played, they played to the best of their ability but overall the ability was just not good enough. For the most of the season we have had a team that to me looked just short of being a top 6 team witha bit of luck ,but a good team nevertheless Grahams's on the wing,Essandoah ,Campbell briefly Moore,Carthy on our day i would have put us up against most teams ,the team was there to build on not decimate and to make it even worse break up slowly 1 Player per week almost .I know its been discussed many times but how could you start the season with all these good players and then sell them half way thorugh .Success is not guarenteed and i can only believe that was the plan from the word go ,a cup run or 2 to boost funds to keep the players .As a supporter I just feel let down almost this is what you could have had but now you can't .The bottom line with me not going yesterday was my 8 year old daughter who loves going to the game with me i think she just can't connect with the club anymore all of her favourite playyers have left within such a short time ,first her favourite player was Baker, then Essendoah, then Douglas .I know it doesnt help staying away but i shall be back, just the wounds are a bit deep at the moment after the canvey game

Sorry

I wasn't really having a go at anybody - just suggesting that if I'd made that decision to stay away in March when it went pear shaped i would have labelled myself a quitter.... If you know what I mean!

I'm not sure i agree with JL that all the fans who aren't at the games are floating fans - there are familiar faces who for the first half of the season were there week in week out who aren't there now (naming no names!).

Certainly, however, there are a significant number of floating fans who don't want to watch us at the moment and one of the big issues for next season will be bringing them back in.
