Just a couple of points arising from Rachel's column.

 

1. Some good remarks about trying to educate people where Ebbsfleet is was rather undone geographically by placing our visitors in North Devon. Whooops!

 

2. With respect, the team that made it to Villa Park were not "infamous" which means notorious, ie in a bad way. Certainly for all G&N fans they were famous, but that is being positive not negative about what and how they achieved what they did.

 

3. About the Ebbsfleet "icon", I suggest a huge arm and hand holding a fistful of cash (made from flexible material so that it moves in the breeze) which would just about sum up the greed culture surrounding the development of much of this area.

 

Did anyone see the Steve Bell "If" cartoon on Friday about the Ebbsfleet monument?

....but not the correct cartoon. The one in question was actually about the Ebbsfleet statue/icon - a giant penguin in fact.

As far as a statue is concerned, I see that Stuart Hammonds suggested (tongue in cheek) last week, that the Statue should be of LD, who has done as much as anyone to put Ebbsfleet on the map!
