2-1 win over Holmsdale( Area on the Bromley i believe, doesn't really exist according to one of there players).

Didn't have time take report notes so if any reserve guy's want to do one as Alan was away at Tunbridge it will no doubt be gratefully received.

"WELL DONE". A place in the semi's.

Margate Reserves took a break from the league after a successful win against rivals Ramsgate last week, and had a quarter final clash with Homelsedale in the cup.

It was the away team that started strongly with a corner in the first minute giving Lamprell easy catching practice from the resulting cross.

Lamprell was then called into action, tipping over a 20 yard free kick which grew Homelsdale's confidence.

Margate started finding the ball with some neat passes and moves in central midfield. On 25mins Harker's corner was met by Heath but the header was straight at the goalkeeper.

Margate then took the lead, with Harker chipping the ball over the top of the defence, and Pratt converted the precise cross.

Half time in a tight 45mins was:

Margate 1.0 Homelsdale

Second half got under way with Homelsdale knowing they'd have to come at the home side to snatch a cup victory. They started brightly with Anderton and Stokes being called into defensive duties on several occassions. Due to the lack of space in the centre of the park, Hoggart and Payne had plenty of room out on the wings delivery numerous balls but with no end product.

Then on 60mins, the Homelsdale forward was through only to be denied by Lamprell springing at his feet and blocking the shot. Taylor then had the chance to double Margate's lead against the run of play, as he intercepted a short pass back but could only be denied by a good stop by the keeper.

The away side deservedly got their reward on 70mins when the ball was whipped across from the right side and got powerfully knodded home at the back post to level the score. 1.1

Homelsdale then had a period of 15mins constant pressure where the Margate back line defending solidly.

Taylor sealed Margate's quarter final win on 80mins when he was played through and finished into the bottom hand corner.

The away side still pressed for another goal, but with Margate being fitter and physically more dominant at the back, they hung on.

Final score: Margate 2.1 Homelsdale

Mark Weatherley's side progress into the semi finals hoping to keep up this winning run.

Team: M.Lamprell, D.Stokes, A.Heath, S.Anderton, R.Harker, N.Hoggart, J.Hindley, S.McNamee (O.Kechi), E.Payne, J.Taylor, K.Pratt
