it was OK (I thought) until they equalised, thanks to Wilmot's Seaman-esque performance in goal (to be fair he had just been injured) but after that we just seemed to give up.

If you read my message again GHA you will see I said it was OK (IMO) until they equalised.

Laz. Note that weebo has said that that's the last game he'll be watching, not the last half. Therefore, my goals conceded ratio in reserve team matches is 4 a match. The amount of minutes I've played has nothing to do with it. It's matches.

Under the circumstances, it's not too bad. If I remember rightly, I pulled off a couple of decent saves against Farnborough reserves. Two especially from Gary Crawshaw, which denied him his hat-trick. I'll talk you through the saves if you like..??

my lack of sleep from the weekend is catching up with me and that might just send me over the edge

The first one, Crawshaw got the ball passed to him, about 8 yards out from goal, him facing the corner flag, 2 yards to the left of the left post line (if a line was drawn from the left post of my goal to their right goal post). He instantly controlled the ball, swivelled and shot. I got across to my left and pushed the ball round the post for a corner.

 

For the second one, a cross came in from the left, he was unmarked in the middle six yards out, sent a powerful header goalwards, but I once again flung myself to the left and turned the ball away.

 

You don't forget experiences like that...

 

p.s. I'm still looking for Steve Darlington's goal. It flew into the top corner of the net, and I didn't see it. He hit it that bloody fast.
