Leigh Game

Got in at 9.45pm not a bad run back at least beat the coaches back, game was a bit drab but as at Kettering we should have won the game it really is two points lost, Liam should have scored with the lob over the keeper, Jimmy Strouts put a header over the bar from a Jacko cross late on, another yellow card happy ref liked to book players for petty fouls and tugs on shirts we had Liam, Skins and i believe Nick Burton as well, overall the defence played well, i thought Lovett had a good game especially in the 2nd half and Duku & Burton played well in the centre of defence, Che & Lou got nothing out of the game, Budge played well when he came on looked fit and showed some nice touches and linked well with Liam, bit worrying about Macca limping off replaced by Tos who contributed nothing, not really enough time to get in the game, the midfield were good today Owen played well but we did miss Bentley, Wilko not troubled to much, still we will take the point it keeps distance between Leigh and ourselves, it is in our hands we have to beat Barnet and a point at least from Farnboro if not all three, we need to play our most experienced players perhaps even try Wilkins up front shame to see him on the bench, well done the Fleet supporters today about 100 of us it's a long way to go especially driving there and back all credit to you, very low crowd 385 i think the announcer said, and the blonde girl in the bar is ok, if that's the one we were all discussing last week, anyway onwards to the Barnet game and three points, be there everyone we need the best crowd of the season.

Coach also got back to Stonebridge Road at 945 and had a nice clear run home!!

We should have had a penalty in the first 10 minutes when Loiue was clearly caught as he toed the ball away from a defender - even their keeper knew they had had a real let off.

Loiue also had one other good run in the first half, where he was brought down, literally on the 18 yard line - another couple of inches and that would have been a penalty too.

The pitch was awful - very hard with high bounce and certainly very bumpy as well, making it difficult to play any sort of football.

Still, looking at the remaining fixtures, I think Farnborough are in trouble - their remaining 4 games are against Margate (Away), Chester (Away), Nuneaton(Away) and home against us. Hard to see them getting much joy fro the Chester & Margate games, and Nuneaton will be a tough one as well, so if we do our job at their place, I think they could yet go down.

Leigh are poor and will struggle, I am sure, to get anything at Hereford. They might beat Northwich at home, and their final game against Kettering is anybody's guess - I'm sure Kettering will want to go out on a high note, so that could only be a point for Leigh.

That would suggest that a win against Barnet and a draw against Farnborough could be enough to see us safe.

Yes, Mepis, the defences were on top without question. Nice for us to get a clean sheet, but two straight games without a goal for us is a little worrying. frown.gif

P.S. Is Mepis aiming for the world record for the longest sentence ever in his post above? grin.gif

Budgie scored 5 or 6 on loan to Heybridge. I know the standard is much lower but I'm still convinced that this guy is class and deserves a start. I'm sure that if we wern't in the relegation dog fight Andy would have played him more often and we would have seen what he is capable of.

Certainly more than 100 of us, but because we spread out round the ground made little impact noise wise.

I am also worried re no goals. why must we always make that extra pass, when we clearly have a good opportunity to just give the ball some welly.

Liam's chance should not have been missed it was a clear scoring opportunity. Budgie did not really have much time to show his form, and he did not get very good service anyway. Thought Tostao altho

ugh agree he did not have long, did nothing at all.

Shame to see Wilko on the bench, although the back 4 looked OK, perhaps he could have gone on up front to give us some muscle.

It's getting close. we must win against Barnet to ease the pressure. and then onward to Monday at Farnborough.

We need to get everyone supporting the lads. lots of noise, lots of drums, lots of cheering.
