Don't get remotely carried away apart from a ten minute period it was not good.

 

Daft penalty to give away. Goody had ages to hoof away but no on a boggy pitch played clever boy and got in a mess and brought player down.

 

Scott got near it but 1-0 down.

 

Then all us and equalized. Lovely flowing move, Side cut it back to RM and 'bingo' simple goal. All us then for ten minutes. JJ unlucky and one cleared off the line and in complete control then a long pot shot goes in off the bar which i thought scs should have got something on.

 

2-1 down at the break. We lose RM early on. A shame he was all over them. A very scrappy period did nothing for Ryman advertising and just as we got on top the daft twat gave them a penalty. Now in 50 years of seeing Margate i've seen some but this was * . The ball leapt off the mud and hit (whoever) on the hand. No hesitation. Peep penalty. Again Scott got near it but 3-1 down.

 

Huff, puff handbags rough and tumble and poor football followed. Only to be enhanced by a Jay header on the death. Goalie left his goal exposed and it trickled in. That was it.

 

Lovely day. 100 gate fans. Loads of noise but not good. We really missed Rob big time.

 

Who played well. Pinns ran and ran. RM till he went off. Mr. Peters once again. Leave the rest to other reports.

i would agree with that.When it went 2-1 we looked a bit shell shocked and never really recovered. lots of mistakes on a bad pitch.

A good summing up Geoff.First half you've mention already.

 

In the second half we had,in TOTAL on goal,NO,I repeat NO shots on goal,& just TWO headers on goal One from Jacko which shaved the post & the other a goal from Jay.

 

Now you would think we were under the cosh but it wasnt like that at all.Angels played the ball around in the second half & generally,as many times seen before seemed to WANT the game more than we did. I'm not saying the lads were'nt trying but sometimes they look so pedestrian & static.

 

Most of the play was in the middle of the park all day.There were two poor sides out there today but we were poorer than they on the day.

 

Trotty seemed not to want to change things when nothing was working. We have Eastwood & Smith on the bench so why not take a gamble & push either Jay or Ryan Peters into midfield. Standen should have made way.Then Jacko got a knock & was limping.

Instead of readying replacement Quain he continued with Jacko,still limping.

 

Trotty seemed to just fling on subs at the end for the sheer sake it,in hope of a change of fortunes.Alas it didn't help either & besides it was all too late by then. He could have changed things earlier & i.m.o should have done so,but he didnt !

 

Injuries seemed to be Jacko & Side (very poor game,head down all too often today). Not sure of any others,if any.

 

Another 3 points we were more than capable of getting but again we fail to produce when required.

 

For the Angels I noticed a much changed anarexic looking(spelling might be wrong there,sorry)James Donovan (compared to what he used to look like)in their side today.He was very good today I must admit.Looked fit & controlled.

 

A good crowd & nice to see & chat to those Tonbridge fans,those that we know by name & by previous meetings.

we didn't look shell shocked we just panicked, and decided to play the long ball, WHICH NEVER WORKS!!!!!!! Plus Tonbridge were also hoofing the ball, leaving the midfeild out of the game where we were playing really well.

 

Very very dissapointed with the team today, todays game and the Hastings game were crucial and blew our good chances of making the play-offs, but now i think we can say we won't be making the play-offs as we are obviously going to carry on playing the hoof ball game.

Trotty needs to get things going again.Get the bite back into the players,get some confidence instilled into them,to get them controlling the ball & despite a great first goal,to pass the ball better as apart from that goal the passing was very poor today.

More directiveness at goal is sometimes the call of the day & in that I mean running with the ball at defenders rather than the standstill pass. Pretty football ALL the time,especially if things,as they did today break down dosent always get the job done Why don't our players RUN at the opposition?. We lack that part in our game.

 

Goodfellow,after his great efforts last week had a nightmare today". Peters seems to be the only one of two(Jay the other) who seem to be consistent these days. The only other "Consistency we have is our "Inconsistency".

 

Socks need pulling up for next week in a BIG BIG way.

Yes Jane.My way of saying things was to state that not many players on our side came out with many honours today,therefore "either" included Ryan.I wasn't actually getting Geoff's words muddled up(if you see what I mean).Anyway on second thoughts I deleted my original as maybe he was possibly better in some small way, more than most others.
Peters & Saunders shone for me though in the main.

I agree with most of what has been said except that anyone who was standing behind the Margate goal must agree that their second goal was a stunning drive that went in like a bullet.You cant expect Scott to get to a shot like that.

this shows us that we are weak without Rob up front , 2 games without him and we lose them both . Its no good lobbing the long ball up and over everyone when both your strikers are only just tall enough to get on a ride at a theme park , no disrespect to them they are doing ther job the best they can but without Rob or a taller front man the game is over before its starts really .Up the Gate . Should have held onto Akinde .
