It appears that the promotion/relegation system has a lot to answer for in that the mobility takes away the establishment of long term rivalries.

No promotion/relegation here sees 50 years of contempt and loathing between Wagga City (the Boiled Lollies...blue/white hooped shirts..world's worst Nickname) and Waratahs (Pooftahs) Rugby Clubs. Winning the comp is important but beating the 'Tahs is crucial.

In the local AFL it's Everyone Else v Wagga Tigers(the monied club).

I know we all hate the 'canvey' songs etc. But we had a good couple of seasons against them and that was as close to a darftord derby as you'd get IMHO. Really enjoyed playing them.
