Aylesbury Vale 2 Beaconsfield SYCOB 3
Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division

I had already been to Haywood Road earlier this season only to find that the match had been postponed. On that occasion I got into a conversation with the groundsman who said that the ground was prone to flooding due to the proximity of a small river, and quite often they would be off when everybody else in the vicinity played. It was with a sinking heart, therefore, that I watched the steady stream of postponements on the Mitoo site - but at the time I left the office it 17:30 it was still apparently on.

Huge relief then to see the glow of floodlights as I parked the car! The pitch, although quite bare in places, was in not that bad a condition.

This was the proverbial game of two halves with Aylesbury going in at half time 2-0 up. The first was a great own goal - the defender passed the ball into an unguarded net from the edge of the 6 yard box. I am sure that wasn't what was meant by the cry of "get rid." The second was a scrappy goal that included 2 miskicks by Beaconsfield.

I suspect words were said at half time as the visitors were much improved in the second half and with 15 minutes left they were 3-2 up with the second goal a superb strike into the top corner.

Beaconsfield had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men following an injury after all their substitutes had been used. During this period Aylesbury pressed hard for an equaliser and nearly got one in the dying minutes but a great full length save ensured an away win.

Like I said does your mummy know you're on the internet. It's common knowledge that 99.9% of posters on another's Forum are anoraks, Tony's one himself.
