MYFC Democracy or lack of it . . .

I really dont want a big deal made of this. It was on the MYFC chat website accessed by logging into MYFC. In fairness it was late and perhaps the moderator was as tired as I was. There may have been previous discussion on the Nike deal and perhaps he felt my questions was overtly negative. I do object to being labelled anti-MYFC and a Will hater (or words to that effect though) when thats simply not the case.

To clarify a couple of points:

a) Regarding censorship and MYFC. I couldnt possibly comment if this is really the case or not. My point was that my experience felt like my opinions were not welcome. To be kicked, when I hadn't been rude felt like censorship to me.

B) With regards to forum rules, I assumed, maybe wrongly that so long as you dont offend someone by being rude etc then you can discuss whatever you like. These seem to be the rules loosely applied to this forum from experience.

Maybe the rules on the MYFC site are different and I was simply not aware of this. In that case perhaps I was at fault.

c) I wasn't trying to judge everyone on MYFC based on 1 person's actions. He clearly felt my questions were not helpful and so kicked me. What annoyed me was that at no time was I rude.

For reference, I voted Yes to the MYFC takeover, but feel the Nike deal is slightly more controversial and I was interested to hear other people's views on the issue and whether an Internet poll would make any difference to the outcome. Yes I could be accused of being cynical but that isnt a crime to my knowledge.

As mentioned above I'm not bothered by what happened - I simply wont use the chat room. Not a big deal. If I have misunderstood the MYFC chat rules in any way then maybe on entering the room there should be some general guidelines advising users what is acceptable or not, together with any topics that may be "off-limit" at that moment in time.

Hi Jim - checked this out with the Web Team - the individual concerned has no moderation rights within the chatroom or any other part of MyFC. It appears that individual members can set up their own chatroom within the MyFC chatroom. In these rooms the individual member has the right to let people in or kick them out of a discussion. Again I'm not a techie and rarely go near the chatroom except at game time. My suggestion would be to stick to the main room as I, personally, wouldn't want an individual to kick me out of a discussion because of something I said.

I agree -

The rules are straight forward - but I would suggest implemented in a more impartial fashion than on here.

I have my doubts about the Nike deal. But this deal was flagged for some time as a take-it-or-leave-it deal because of the time constraints. What swung it for me was the comment that those involved with the club shop felt we needed to go in a different direction.

Rules are here - and I doubt there was any problem on your part.

"The rules are straight forward - but I would suggest implemented in a more impartial fashion than on here."

By "here" I assume that you mean this forum ?

As a now deemed "second class" Fleet fan i.e. one who is not a member of the Groovy Gang, may I just say how much I have enjoyed this forum over the past (nearly) 6 years. Yes, we have had the odd few w*nkers that have overstepped & been banned...and yes, I have had the odd "run in" with fellow posters but, and there is no need for you to recall this, the great Super Daz once said "this is a forum for debate" & so it is !

We can't just ban people who don't tow the party line.....otherwise we wouldn't have known the likes of Riverview Red, John Pearce.....and ( god preserve us ) CG.

Also we would not be forfilling our Care in the Community obligations if we banned Uncle Urchin ( only a joke UU ! ).

I think ours Mods have done a great job on this forum. Long may it continue. You can always restrict yourself to the MyFC forum if you don't like this one ?

You ain't getting your hands on this one matey !!!

C'mon the Gravesend ( and Northfleet of course !)

Cheers,

It is important that the MyFC forum remains pretty much on issue(s) at all times.

It plays the major role in MyFCs membership future decision making regarding the club. This forum is important, but the formal decisions will not be on this forum, allthough I would like to underline that the opinions expressed here by EUFCs fans is duly noted.

MyFC forum is also a vastly bigger forum than this excellent one.

Those things combined makes the need for forum moderation bigger compared to what seems to be the case on this forum.

Are you sure? Have you had a proper look around this website or have you just been on the one page dedicated to the Fleet?

Just because your forum is 'bigger' does not make it anymore relevant than this one.

Well done to Ian who looks after this site as well. Good job mate.

My complaint about the moderation on this forum is based on myself being subjected to unwarranted personal abuse, the fact that no effort was made by the moderators to edit the abuse and the fact that there was no effort made to even acknowledge my complaint by the moderators.

No interest in doing so.

We do things differently on here.

Remember that pretty much everything that is said on this forum is tongue in cheek banter between a lot of people who all more or less know each other face to face because of a shared passion for their local football team.

Jeff - I have absolutely no problem with banter and I can take it as well as give it out. But if I make a comment that someone finds personally insulting to them, then I will unreservedly apologise for the comment. In my opinion this is the decent thing to do. My complaint about the moderation is not about the insult itself but about the fact that the moderators did not even acknowledge the fact that I made a complaint about it, never mind not removing the appropriate comment.

give it a rest wanchai...no one insulted you and if you were offended by a little joke at your expense then take it from me you are not cut out for this non league football lark....

the moderators ignored your request for action to be taken because the posts didn't warrant any action...end of... move on...you'll get worse before you're through..
