MYFC Democracy or lack of it . . .

Just to clarify I was "kicked/banished/removed" from the room. I only returned to question my removal before leaving voluntarily as it was clear my questions weren't welcome.

The MYFC model is a great idea in theory but if debate is censored everytime someone questions the mainstream view, then its doomed. People simply wont renew their membership and ultimately its the Football Club that suffers. For this reason alone I want to see MYFC succeed.

I've not always agreed with everything forum moderators on here have said but despite differences in opinion I've never once had a post removed to my knowledge.

I'll put it down to 1 bad experience but it has made me a little "sceptical" of the MYFC model when in fact I was highly enthusiastic about the whole idea.

I did have the Austrian Airlines one with me as well.

In hindsight, probably a better choice :-)

Could I ask one more question on this and I will contact the WebTeam for clarification - was it the chatroom on the MyFC site or one of the unofficial ones?

I have to disagree with your suggestion that debate on MyFC is censored. There are forum rules which all memebrs have to abide by. Repeated breach of the rules can lead to a memebr being suspended. Yesterday when discussing the Nike proposal one particular member was abusive towards other who criticised the deal. I warned him twice and edited the inappropriate language. This is within the rules of the forum and the only type of censorship that occurs.

From my experience on here I feel that the forum moderators do not moderate the forum properly, leave personal abuse posted by others without comment and refuse to even acknowledge complaints. Every forum is different and the MyFC forum has rules that are available to all members.

As yorkfox said - you can't assume that every member acts the same as the one you've had a bad experience with (and I will contact oatcake to ask him what was going on).

Anyway I will get beck to you when I get a response from the Web Team.

I strongly disagree with someone in Australia (or anywhere) telling me who should be up front when three months ago, they had never heard of Gravesend, let alone Ebbsfleet.

Lucky you put in the (or anywhere)!
Not telling you...telling LD.

Agree..only mod should be able to boot anyone from chat room or Forum.MYFC Forum 'Reported' post option seems to be greatly overused. Also agree that the MYFC Site is THE WORST site I have ever used regarding speed and navigation which doesn't augur well for multiple voting and feedback.

How do you start a new thread on there?

I put my name down for the Board but am disappointed at the lack of feedback. I listed my experience...establishment and administration of a Rugby Club, presiding over a Basketball Association...I am the only one so far to openly state that I would use all of the 5000 quid allowance for travel, accommodation and expenses (for both myself and my blond female intern/PA).
I guess calling it soccer and telling them I'm a referee could have been politically naive.

As far as picking the team is concerned I have posted on the MYFC site that:
LD nominates his preferred starting formation.
Based on the myriad of tactical factors and player strengths/weaknesses of EUFC and their upcoming opposition. He can work the squad with that formation in mind in the time available prior to that match. The progress of the match will probably see tactical changes anyway as LD responds to opposition strengths/weaknesses and EUFC's individual and team performance.

It would also take out the nightmare of having to come up with a formula that accommodates numerous formation options and the selection of players best suited to the positions in that particular formation.

LD lists players for each position on the Team Selector Drop Downs with his preference at the top...so he lists 3 players he thinks could play RB given the fitness, form, ability of the player as well as the importance of the fixture (last Tuesday's game is an example of LD having a low priority attached and selecting his team on that basis)and the development of the squad (experimenting with older players...blooding younger players...introducing new players...Ronnie Bull).

So MYFC'ers still get to pick 'the team' with the bloke closest to the action giving them a lead.

Match Reports (good one on there at the moment from Diggers Riggers), video and LD rating his player's performances subtly in a post match report or up front (out of 10?) would aid in final team choices.

Suggest that a lot of MYFC'ers would be influenced by LD's 'preferences' but the more adventurous would still get their say and there should be a facility(probably through a devoted thread)for them to explain the reasoning behind their choice.

That way someone from Australia (or anywhere) could have a 1/28001* influence regarding 'pick the team'.
*LD=1

As far as Nike is concerned the option to vote 'No' was available.

From Hanoi Hannah.

The Moderators on here do their job, just because you haven't been able to get your own way here, you cry like a little baby...........What are you going to do when you don't get your own way with the voting on Myfc?.......Unless of course(and a lot of people think so), you are more than a mere member!

What is that old saying?......It isn't the people that vote that count, it's the people that count the votes!
